Job Summary/Basic Function
This role’s primary responsibility is to support students through classroom teaching and individualized coaching to enhance academic performance. By instructing students on skill development, teaching content area knowledge, and unveiling the hidden curriculum of higher education, this role promotes student success with an equity-centered approach, emphasizing inclusivity to facilitate learning and achievement during critical transitional phases. Other responsibilities include targeted support by assisting with early alert and case management processes, assisting with Center for Student Success ( CSS ) student leadership opportunities, collaborating with key stakeholders on student support strategies, assisting with CSS curricula, and contributing to special projects, seminars, and events. All staff members in the Center for Student Success are expected to uphold and contribute to the Student Development and Campus Life Division strategic priorities including a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; attention to meeting Student’s Basic Needs; and the development of a Curricular Approach that meets Division learning goals.

Advise and instruct in DRIVE program – 40%
- Prepare and teach credit-bearing success courses for students in DRIVE , students who are conditionally admitted to the college
- Provide primary academic advising for first year DRIVE students
- Identify strategies to connect DRIVE students with campus resources and opportunities
- Collaborate with key stake holders to address and assess desired First-Year Experience learning outcomes
- Conduct individual student meetings for skill development and academic support
- Facilitate learning of college skills by challenging students to practice success strategies while building supportive and mentoring relationships
- Develop academic success plans in consultation with students and key stakeholders
- Execute outreach and interventions designed for students identified as at-risk
- Manage a caseload of students, use Navigate to track all meetings and monitor progress
- Use data points including progress reports, mid-semester grades, and alerts to inform next strategies/support for students
- Coordinate with campus and community resources as necessary to evaluate progress and ensure appropriate support for students
- Serve as a resource for the development and assessment of strategies in the student support curriculum
- Assist CSS colleagues with recruitment and hiring of student leaders
- Contribute to the training, mentorship, and supervision of student leaders as needed
- Serve as a resource for the development and assessment of strategies in the student leadership curriculum
- Assist with student hiring and onboarding as requested within CSS and throughout the division for various student leader roles
- Assist with events in collaboration with partners in the Student Development & Campus Life Division
- Contribute to the development and delivery of workshops and seminars at the request of campus partners
- Participate in campus-wide recruitment, involvement, and retention efforts
- Bachelor’s degree, three years’ experience in student affairs or academic advising related field; or master’s degree in progress
- Understanding of trauma-informed practices and experience supporting diverse needs and populations
- Strong communication skills including presentation or training experience
- Strong history of collaboration and teamwork
- Master’s Degree in Counseling, Student Affairs or other related Education field
- Experience with EAB Navigate or related early alert system
- Classroom teaching and curriculum development experience
