Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Academic Advising at Fordham College, the Academic Advisor for Juniors and Seniors provides holistic, personalized guidance to Juniors and Seniors in Fordham College at Lincoln Center ( FCLC ), in Manhattan, and Fordham College at Rose Hill ( FCRH ), in the Bronx, aiming to bolster their academic success, strengthen their connections to their programs of study, introduce them to relevant extracurricular opportunities, and support their progression to degree completion.
Academic Advisors for Juniors and Seniors also play crucial roles as liaisons, facilitating ongoing communication and collaboration with the faculty leadership of academic programs, with faculty advisors, and with administrative staff within the Deans’ Offices and throughout the University.
This position may require occasional evening and weekend hours to support major campus events.
Essential Functions
Applies best practices in academic advising to assist students in understanding and navigating academic requirements, connecting to experiential opportunities, and making timely progress to degree completion.
Partners with faculty to collaboratively guide students toward appropriate classes, internships, and experiences to match their learning and post-graduation goals.
Develops and initiates programming and resources to support students in their academic progress and career development.
Collaborates with other members of the University to develop a strong community, deliver programs that support student success, retention, and degree completion and provide holistic and informed guidance to students.
Contributes to the effectiveness of academic advising and student support through team-based work with colleagues in FCRH , FCLC , the Gabelli School of Business, and other schools throughout Fordham University.
Fully leverages the potential of the Fordham Hub (powered by Salesforce) to provide wraparound student support; uses the Fordham Hub and other data-based tools to identify and prioritize students who would benefit from intervention and support.
Attends regular case conferences and works collaboratively with others across the institution in identifying and supporting at-risk students.
Responds to regular inquiries from students, parents, faculty, and other administrators with regard to academic and course-related issues. Understands and complies with all FERPA regulations and maintains appropriate confidentiality.

Management Responsibilities Not responsible for supervision or oversight of others.
Additional Functions
Supports major campus events such as admissions activities, Commencement, research showcases, and awards ceremonies.
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree
Academic Advisor: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in higher education, academic advising, or transfer student support.
Senior Academic Advisor: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in higher education, academic advising, or transfer student support.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
Familiarity with best practices in academic advising and in working with a varied, diverse population of students.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven ability to juggle multiple responsibilities, organize, prioritize, and work collaboratively.
Proficiency in various software tools such as Microsoft Office Suite and G-Suite.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Understanding of and commitment to furthering the Jesuit Catholic mission in liberal arts higher education
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Higher Education Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field.
Experience in advising special populations, such as STEM .
Experience with Banner, Salesforce, and web management systems.
Minimum Starting Salary $65,000
Maximum Starting Salary $85,000
