This position will report to our Center for Performing and Fine Arts location in West Chester, PA Monday through Thursday, and allows for remote reporting on Friday.
Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School is a state-wide, public (tuition-free) K-12 online charter school with a substantial number of students. Our teachers are part of an educational team whose innovative approach to education is providing a dynamic learning experience for students across the state of Pennsylvania through cyber education. All staff report to work throughout our various locations in Pennsylvania.

The Center for Performing and Fine Arts Academic Adviser plays a vital role in supporting students who are not reaching their full potential. By monitoring students’ academic progress, communicating with their teachers, building relationships with the students, and working with their Learning Coaches, and working closely with their grade level counselor, Academic Advisers will help to create a plan to foster student progress and growth.
Essential Duties
Maintain weekly contact with students at risk of failing their course(s) and their Learning Coachess/Parent/Guardian.
Track student weekly academic progress and attendance.
Keep detailed records of all interactions with students and families on a Google spreadsheet.
Serve as a resource for student planning (To-Do Lists, time management, executive functioning).
Maintain Academic Attendance records and collaborates with our Child Accounting department.
Advocate for failing/struggling/disengaged students.
Actively participates in Student Support Team meetings and activities.
Meet with students and families.
Monitor summer school and EYP (extended yearly progress) students.
Connect with students and design a pathway for them to be successful at PALCS.
Communicating with teachers, support staff, school counselors, and families to better understand students’ needs.
Participate as proxy test facilitators for PSSA and Keystone testing as needed.
Serve as an ambassador for students who transfer to PALCS during the school year.
Support students in our SOAR (Academic Recovery) Program.
Other duties as assigned by the CPFA Head Administrator
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
AA degree
Previous academic support experience strongly preferred
Microsoft Office
Proficient using Google Apps for Education
Strong customer service experience
Extensive knowledge of online programs (Canvas, MSIS, Zoom, Google)
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to build rapport with students, families, and co-workers
Excellent time management skills
Excellent record-keeping ability
Strong technology skills.

Physical: Normal vision, speech, hearing, walking, sitting, standing, lifting, stooping, bending, grasping, keyboarding, and filing ability
