Barrett Petfood is a family owned and operated premium pet food manufacturer. We are currently hiring a Weekend Production Supervisor. This position will be responsible for overseeing pet food production and maintaining efficiency and quality in a co-manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities:
Help assemble, calibrate, operate, and monitor extruder and all auxiliary equipment (pumps, micro-motions, dry coating applicator, tanks, agitators, etc.) of one extrusion system
Monitors and manages shrink losses to acceptable limits/standards
Identifies and corrects problems and inefficiencies in process, materials, equipment, or skills
Ensures tests and evaluations of products and processes are being executed by production team in coordination with Quality Assurance
Ensures compliance with Barrett’s GMP and safety guidelines
Ability to track and manage inventory efficiently
Reports to the Production Manager and Site Manager to collect, evaluate, analyze, and assess operation
Develops and implements procedures and strategies to ensure a safe work environment
Continuously looks for process improvement and best practices
Ensures operator PMs are completed per shift
Working with maintenance to identify and correct any issues in a timely manner
Collaborates and communicates with all department leadership ensuring success
Organizes, trains, directs, and oversee the production team
Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
Provides guidance to team members to address immediate staff issues
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
General understanding of machine operations and pneumatics
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Must have 3-5 years supervisory experience and proven leadership skills
Ability to function well in a high-paced environment
Thorough understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost management, and other effective manufacturing and distribution techniques
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
