STARTING HOURLY RATE: $20.85 - $21.81 (PLACEMENT DEPENDS ON SIMILAR EXPERIENCE HELD AND EDUCATION)

Summary

The Student Recruiter promotes and recruits students to enroll at specialty schools, programs, and comprehensive high schools within the Phoenix Union High School District. Develops and maintains a visible and interactive community presence. The Student Recruiter creates positive relationships and rapport with future students, families, partner districts, charter schools, and community members. As a PXU community ambassador, the Student Recruiter should have in-depth knowledge of the Phoenix Union High School District’s portfolio of schools and the diverse programmatic offerings the District provides.

Essential Functions

  • Actively recruits students to enroll in Phoenix Union High School District schools.
  • Coordinates and/or assists in creating internal and external communications to prospective families and admitted students; and resolves any problems as needed.
  • Builds rapport and communicates with prospective students regarding specialty schools, comprehensive campuses, and District programs.
  • Represents the District through various presentations and attendance in activities associated with recruitment and enrollment, such as, but not limited to, partner district youth fairs, open houses, PXU expos, future freshman nights, summer Freshman Academy, and PXU high school nights.
  • Develops, uses, and stays current with communication and marketing tools, including social media, publications, computer information, student information system, data analysis, etc.
  • Coordinates, plans, and executes community engagement events for prospective students and families.
  • Maintains customer service standards through communications and personal interactions with area districts, schools, administration, and students.
  • Coordinates and conducts school tours and classroom visitations at comprehensive campuses, specialty schools, and magnet programs for parents, students, and other interested parties.
  • Collaborates with Student & Family Services Division to implement recruitment plans, including but not limited to, events, recruitment materials, promotions for schools, and programs for student enrollment.
  • Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:

High School diploma or GED; some post-secondary education preferred. Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred but not a disqualifier.

License And Certification Requirements

A valid Arizona driver’s license is required. A valid Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

  • Ability to use initiative within organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in an office setting as well as on Phoenix Union campuses, elementary school campuses in the greater Phoenix area, and other key locations appropriate for recruiting students. Work may occur outdoors in various weather conditions. Must be willing to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends).
