Job Title: 2024-2025 Junior High/High School History Teacher

Reports to: Principal

Location: BFCS - Queen Creek

Length of Contract: 12 Months

Job Description

Benjamin Franklin Charter School is looking for classically focused History Teachers to join our Junior High/High School Team for the 2024-2025 school year.

Responsibilities

  • Emphasize the development of philosophy through the use of primary source documents (provided) to assist students’ understanding of Western civilization and ethical discernment.
  • Focus history instruction alignment with English literary works to better demonstrate the life experiences and culture of different time periods.
  • While under the direct supervision of the Principal and High School Academic Team, the Teacher will plan, organize, and implement the school’s instructional program in a learning environment that motivates and guides students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
  • Support BFCS Vision, Mission, and Goals.
  • Promote and adhere to BFCS policies and procedures.
  • Provide a safe, structured environment focused on academic excellence.
  • Create a learning environment that is engaging and conducive to effective instruction; maintain standards of student behavior.
  • Prepare and follow lesson plans correlated with the prescribed curriculum and pacing guides.
  • Communicate learning objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language.
  • Monitor and assess student progress; provide ongoing feedback to students and parents, communicating respectfully and professionally at all times..
  • Rely on Socratic questioning techniques to check for student understanding, help students draw connections, and develop student reasoning.
  • Use classroom and state assessment data to inform and improve instruction.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and legible records as required by law and school policy.
  • Reflect on teaching practices and strive to improve professional competence.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
  • Be an active presence on campus, including staff meetings, schoolwide events, parent-teacher conferences, and other scheduled meetings as required.
  • Meet any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the school site or District.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or University

Arizona Teacher Certificate preferred

Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Will be required to pass a criminal background check upon hire

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Duties may include frequent walking, standing, stooping, and lifting up to approximately 25 pounds. Employees may be required to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally. This position will require the employee to have the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
