Salary: Current teacher salary schedule

Minimum Qualifications

  • Delaware Teaching certification or active enrollment in certification pathway is required
  • Must have at least 3-5 successful years of classroom experience
  • Experience with academic and behavior interventions

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The administrative team believes that all types of behavior are interconnected for student success. The Dean of Student Achievement will be expected to work collaboratively with the building administrator, constable, instructional coach, and other members of the school MTSS team. The list of responsibilities below is not "all encompassing" and special projects may be assigned to the deans as a means to support the mission of the school.

  • Actively participate in and facilitate the attendance monitoring process for students. This may include, but is not limited to: parent contact in conjunction with classroom teacher communication, attendance interventions and incentives for specific students including counseling/support, and assisting in the documentation requirements for truancy court filings.
  • Work collaboratively within our school wide behavior expectations, including Leader in Me and PBiS, to directly support students at Tier I, II, and III.
  • Actively participate in and when required facilitate the MTSS process for students. This may include, but is not limited to: participating in MTSS PLCs, facilitating Instructional Support Team meetings, parent contact in conjunction with classroom teacher communication, classroom observation, student counseling/support, meeting facilitation, attendance at 504/IEP/manifestation meetings (as needed), and acquiring all required documentation needed for audit purposes.
  • Support classroom learning through non-evaluative observations (as needed/requested), long range lesson planning (as needed) with individuals/groups of teachers/departments to support teachers in classroom expectations and management.
  • Deliver professional development to all or some teachers needing assistance in implementing strong classroom management, interventions as defined in our Student Success Guide, or other instructional support.
  • Provide support to staff as identified by the building administration and the district's Student Services Supervisor and/or Director of Elementary.
  • Investigate and respond to behavioral incidents (as defined by our district's student behavioral expectations as outlined in the currently the School Success Guide), to include documentation in iTracker, eSchool, or other student management systems.
  • Coordinates with the principal to maintain a positive, safe learning environment for students.
  • Supports the building principal with all school scheduling, special events, field trips, cafeteria, transportation, maintenance, playgrounds and cleaning.
  • Participates on the school improvement team, school climate committee, and emergency preparedness committee.
  • Serves as administrative designee in the absence of the principal.
  • Manages community use of school site.
  • Assists the principal with the preparation and implementation of the school safety plan: disaster preparation, fire drills, student, staff and public safety, and student health.
  • Monitors student attendance and coordinates efforts to improve student attendance.
  • Effectively communicate and respond to parent requests, issues and concerns
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of state and district testing and surveying programs (DeSSA, School Climate, MRA, etc.)
  • Assists the principal in supporting Professional Learning Committees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.
