SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Career Coach is to provide participants with training and counseling to ensure they obtain employment. In this role, you nurture employer relations by equipping participants with the professional soft skills necessary to attain and keep employment, facilitating presentations and workshops to teach these employability skills, assisting with networking events and other employment related job fairs or presentations. As a Career Coach, your primary function is to ensure program participants from low-income households eligible for the CIES Program are seeking employment and educational credentials in order to flourish personally and professionally as they transition into gainful, year-round employment.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate Degree Preferred or 3+ years of experience in workforce development.
  • Bilingual Required (English/Spanish).
  • Valid drives license with reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel through CPMs service delivery area.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote new employment opportunities for participants.
  • Take participants to minimum of four job fairs per year,
  • Develop and implement career goal setting with low-income families through all phases of career planning, job search and training or educational study.
  • Counsel. and develop employment plans that are comprehensive and delineate clear steps towards goals.
  • Provide career coaching to enrolled participants through career development supports, including but not limited to: conducting mock interviews, providing transportation to and from interviews, developing resumes and cover
  • Use self-assessment tools such as O'Net, US Learns, MassCIS or others to assist every program participant in setting career goals
  • Develop outreach and recruitment strategies to obtain on-the-job training opportunities for low-income families.
  • Attend weekly DTA orientations- at your site to recruit participants and build relationships with DTA workers,
  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with a minimum of two new potential employers per year.
  • Maintain updated electronic and paper files for each participant.
  • Document all case management activities and send a monthly attendance to DTA as well as participation reports.
  • Ensure all documentation is free of errors, including misspellings and other common mistakes.

SCHEDULE: Full time: Monday-Friday (8:30 am to 4:30 pm)
