Be A Love Warrior! Marginalized communities are more likely to experience poverty, lack of affordable housing, and discrimination in the housing market, pushing them into homelessness at higher rates. Addressing the root causes of racial disparities in homelessness requires that we embrace solutions that center Radical Love. The Supreme Court decision will lead to further stigmatization and violence on our unhoused neighbors. Embracing and protecting Radical Love is imperative. Mission: To Engage, Equip, Empower & Elevate survivors of s3x tr*ff!cking so that they may live successful, independent lives in their community. Engage. We sit down with the survivor-participant initially to establish their "PDP" (personal development plan), but regularly thereafter to check in and see how they are doing. Individuals who have suffered complex trauma want nothing more than to have a "normal", healthy, independent life. But sometimes because of the myriad of mental, emotional and physical obstacles, it can seem just beyond their reach. So, these are personal, nonconfrontational conversations that do not have our ego and expectations attached to them. They are conversations with questions focused on the immediate needs and concerns of the participant. They are collaborative brain-storming sessions on how we can "re-think" this situation or make a plan that empowers the individual to move forward. Together, we are Redeeming the Future, 1 survivor at a time.

Leeze’s new blog is on system solutions to support minors experiencing homelessness and housing instability. Hint: they are all cross-system and/or multidisciplinary approaches that put the power back in the hands of youth themselves. These approaches all also accept referrals/clients under ALL definitions of homelessness including at risk and unstably housed populations. You can’t effectively serve minors if you’re excluding unstably housed youth and youth at risk of imminently losing their housing. We get asked all the time how to best support minors. "Public trust is the currency of the nonprofit sector." Independent Sector "Trust is what makes it possible for us to partner with local communities to do the hard work of systemic change. Our trusted voices as advocates for our missions help drive policy change. Our trusted status makes us an essential partner to government and industry. Trust is vital in recruiting volunteers and in the sector’s work to bridge differences in a divided America. And, without trust, raising the resources we need to do our work becomes infinitely harder." Key findings from the Independent Sector's new report include: 1) After four years of decline, trust in nonprofits has rebounded by 5 points to 57%. 2) Trust in philanthropy remains steady at 33%, lower than trust in nonprofits. 3) Americans trust nonprofits to reduce national divisions more than they trust corporations, government, or media. 4) Americans have less trust in nonprofits to advocate for public policies and conduct nonpartisan voter engagement. 5) There are clear pathways for nonprofits to increase public trust in the sector. Come work with me! This new grant-funded position will help Youthentity build its organizational capacity in communications and family engagement, especially among historically marginalized populations. This newly created position will develop and implement the new communications plan and engage the Latino community. The expanded and comprehensive communications plan will raise awareness of Youthentity programs and services so more youth may benefit from our programming. For example: -Develop and manage multilingual communications about all Youthentity has to offer. -Promote parent engagement in their student's development, and encourage greater support of Youthentity. -Build a stronger media presence in both English and Spanish. -Develop strategic email campaigns inclusive of data collection and analysis to ensure we are effectively communicating with our target audience. -Raise awareness in the community of Youthentity programs through strategic messaging, intentionally leveraging local news outlets and community events. -Codify and transparently communicate roles and responsibilities so we are prepared for the next interaction of growth.  -Evaluate the effectiveness and cultural responsiveness of programs, especially for underserved, and under-resourced youth, and communicate progress toward goals to the board of directors and the community. The applicant must be bi-literate in Spanish and English.

I'm excited to see share that AmeriCorps has announced transformative new rules for the AmeriCorps State and National program, effective October 1, 2024.
