If every company in the mid-2010s was a “data-first organization” and every company in the mid-2000s was going through a “digital transformation,” the mid-2020s will be a consolidated “AI transformation” to become “AI-first.” That said, this is a very straightforward article on the practical application of AI in a very “not AI” industry.

Serving isn't such a bad thing. As a servant leader, you're a "servant first". You focus on the needs of others before you consider your own. You acknowledge other perspectives, give people the support they need to meet their goals, involve them in decisions and discussions, and build a sense of community within your team. Obsess much? (100 points to anyone that gets the movie reference.) Commerce marketers are obsessed with retail media, for good reason. It continues to be hugely impactful for business. Recent research using Arc Worldwide's Impact Evaluator tool to dive into the data serves up a good reminder for the industry: Retail media has an important role to play, but it is only one piece of the complex puzzle that is commerce marketing.

It’s cool to be on the inaugural Variety 10. They’re recognizing 10 CMOs that they feel are “the most important and consequential leaders of our time.” And I love this list of marketers. I know and admire their work, and I appreciate the thinking behind why Variety chose these brand leaders. All of them are truly innovative and see the world differently. They solve problems in fresh, unexpected, or unconventional ways. They are thoughtful in how their brand transcends the product or service, and find inspiring ways to give back and be a force for good. The list is a mix of highly established brands that are reinventing themselves and finding ways to be relevant and relatable to young and mature audiences, and then there are pioneers and digital natives that are exploring and bringing us new experiences and choices — inspiring us all to live differently, and live better. Major League Baseball on Monday announced WM, a leading environmental services provider, as the Official Sustainability Partner of Major League Baseball. This is the first sustainability-focused partner in League history, which will aim to elevate MLB’s continued sustainability-related efforts in ballparks and throughout communities. WM will be the presenting sponsor of Major League Baseball’s official Earth Day and Green Week celebrations, which will include a variety of environmental-positive practices and messaging. Additionally, WM will offer sustainability advisory services to MLB Clubs, which includes end-to-end solutions intended to help customers achieve their sustainability goals in waste reduction and diversion, greenhouse gas emissions management, and more. Amazon Prime Video extends streaming deal with WNBA Did you watch the Women’s March Madness? It seems someone inside Amazon Prime Video did and believed that extending their streaming deal with the WNBA for an additional two years. The WNBA draft is in a weeks time and Amazon is counting on the fact that consumers will want to watch the WNBA now that Iowa’s Caitlin Clark and others will be drafted by WNBA teams. Prime Video and the WNBA have signed a rights renewal deal, extending their partnership to the U.S. for 21 games per season, including the WNBA Commissioner's Cup Championship Game, for 2024 and '25 seasons. Prime Video partnered with WNBA for 2021 season, streaming 16 games. 2024 season, May 14-Sept. 19, will feature 40 games each, with financial terms not disclosed. The WNBA has renewed its deal amid a surge in interest in women's sports, with college stars like Caitlyn Clark and Angel Reese expected to attract new fans. WNBA chief growth officer Colie Edison expressed satisfaction with Prime Video's commitment to the WNBA, stating that the platform will continue to showcase world-class athletes during the regular season and Championship Game streaming. https://lnkd.in/g2eyzWRZ

I'm a sucker for brand metrics so when The Business of Fashion drops an AI powered brand study I'm all ears. I like the general methodology and it's intriguing to have an AI analyze brand alignment. I get why brand/audience alignment is a measure of brand strength but that little annoying contrarian in me says that the opposite could also be true. My sentiment has always been that a truly strong brand that stands the test of time is one which lets the audience interpret and make it their own (like a blank canvas). If that's the case, misalignment (in combination with high engagement and intent) may actually be an equally telling indicator of strong brand equity. Ok, that just did my head in.
