    Firefighting robots enhance the capabilities of combating fires more efficiently by pushing debris, navigating challenging terrain, and creating a path for Firefighters to operate safely. The capabilities of the LAFD's RS3 were introduced on October 13, 2020 during a press conference held at Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center. The RS3 is housed at Fire Station 88 as part of the Wildland Fuel Management Unit and Urban Search and Rescue Task Force. This acquisition proved to be a formidable asset to the Department's equipment fleet with impressive technology features that have already assisted in ensuring Firefighter safety.

    To limit the risk of exposure to carcinogens which increase the risk of Firefighters developing cancer, many policies, procedures and initiatives have been developed since I took my position at the Supply and Maintenance Division of the Los Angeles Fire Department. This ongoing program brings in dozens of members from the LAFD as well as cooperators from the fire service and health care industry to make it successful. Projects complete or underway.

This ongoing program brings in dozens of members from the LAFD as well as cooperators from the fire service and health care industry to make it successful. Projects complete or underway.
    1) Removal of turnout gear from the living quarters of fire stations.
    2) Second set of turnout gear.
    3) Removal of SCBAs from the cabs of apparatus.
    4) Clean cab apparatus design and manufacture.
    5) Carcinogen Wipes
    6) Extractors
    7) Overhaul/Decontamination policy and procedures.
    8) Advanced care and maintenance of PPE in compliance with NFPA 1851.
    9) Firefighter Decontamination Unit.
    10) Testing of new technology to make PPE decontamination easier and less time consuming.

  • Electronic Patient Care Reporting System (ePCR) Field Implementation

    -

    The field implementation of the Electronic Patient Care Reporting system (ePCR) was carried out by three groups within the Los Angeles Fire Department. Group one, the EMS Division. Group two, Management Information Systems Division. Group three, the Supply and Maintenance Division. I managed the installation of the ePCR components in all emergency apparatus. NOTE: This project was awarded the "Quality and Productivity Commission Award" for the City of Los Angeles.
