🚨 That's not going to work. More than half of SAP’s ERP customers risk running out of maintenance support by 2027, as revealed in an analysis by Basis Technologies CTO David Lees. 🔍 Key Insights: Only 57% of enterprises using SAP’s on-prem ERP Central Component solutions are on track to migrate to SAP's cloud-based S/4HANA system before the 2027 deadline. A significant portion of customers face an imminent 2025 support cliff, with nearly three-quarters yet to start or complete their migration. SAP Implementation Journey – Part 2 Successful SAP implementation of SAP starts with a productive kick-off meeting that defines the objectives of SAP implementation, Top Management’s commitment, Assurance of Core Team Members’ dedicated time, Confirmation of Scope, Milestones, etc. In the next phase, “fit to standard”, the users and consultants will discuss with each other to understand the business needs and the best practices in SAP. Preparation for the “fit to standard” phase by users: -     Checklist of all business “needs” covering Process requirements, Workflow, Layouts, and Reports. This will help them to ensure coverage of all business needs. -     Users should be able to explain their processes to the consultants clearly. -     They should have the attitude to appreciate the inputs from the consultants. -     Users should believe that there may be a better solution in SAP than what they expect to meet their business needs. So, they should be open-minded. Preparation for the “fit to standard” phase by the Consultants: -     Consultants should appreciate that the SAP is a new user system. Instead of using SAP terminologies, Consultants should use the business terminologies and slowly move onto the SAP terminologies. -     There will be a high probability of the users saying “YES” or “NO” without understanding what exactly SAP can contribute to the requirements. Consultants should spend quality time with users to link the business needs and SAP functions to get the buy-in from users. -     Consultants should try to convince the users how SAP functionalities will help to perform the business processes in a productive way which will improve the users’ efficiency and in turn possible career growth. Execution of the “fit to standard” phase by both Usera and Consultants: -     Prepare a detailed Business Process Master List (BPML) and keep it as a reference. -     BPML should be compared with the Business Requirement List and mapped. -     Include the following to monitor the progress of the Processes and Reports: o  Discussed Points o  Demonstrated o  Standard o  Workaround o  Customization Management of both User and Partner organizations should monitor the progress and resolve the differences then and there. This may be done with an internal SAP specialist (hired specifically for the project) or an external consultant. With a well-defined BPML list, because of detailed discussions between Users and Consultants, performing the next phase “Blueprint Preparation” will be a smooth one and will be a strong base and guide to follow throughout the project.
