Here's how you can transition from software engineering to the healthcare industry.
I do think transitioning does sometimes require skilling up on your cv by actually gaining a credential and showing your commitment to studying healthcare - whether that be through a short term certificate program or a masters degree which can be done in as little as one year with many part time programs available. Data is part of many healthcare jobs but going the extra mile to learn the field can mean a lot to recruiters who are sifting through CVs looking for evidence of commitment versus shopping around and want to hire people who are mission driven. If you have the ability to learn through on the job training (for example take on a project in healthcare) and/or experiential learning, it is also is very helpful.

You're a healthcare management professional. How can you avoid the most common problems?
Having a micromanager supervisor results in no thought or creativity and a culture of fear. How can we allow people to live up to their full potential? As a physician, I know everyone wants to be working near their top of their "license" (as we say in medicine) or skill. One way to do that is to provide opportunities to enable people to show you how much they can do and then coach/provide feedback where needed. The book Multipliers by Liz Wiseman is helpful.

In patients hospitalized with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), indicators of clinical instability at discharge are associated with poor outcomes. In patients hospitalized with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), indicators of clinical instability at discharge are associated with poor outcomes. It is not known whether the order of indicator stabilization is associated with outcomes. We describe variation in the sequences, including whether and in what order, instabilities resolve among patients hospitalized with CAP, and find important associations between patterns of stabilization and patient-level outcomes. -

Incorporating Social Media into Medical Education
Academic Internal Medicine Insight
Social media has the potential to transform academic environments and engage teachers and learners in new ways. To achieve this transformation, medical educators must overcome initial fears to become familiar with the benefits, risks and limitations of using social media. Using social media in medical education can not only engage 21st century learners, but also teach the next generation of physicians the best practices for using these tools.
