As part of its export operations, the company needs to report details of exports to CBP’s Automated Exports System(AES) to obtain an Internal Tracking Number (ITN). We will be discussing about using OTM/GTM to file AES for Exports out of the USA. We will explain the process of a routine scenario where export of goods get executed out of a port in the USA. We will be covering the challenges involved in filing AES and refiling AES when a company’s shipments cross border into Canada on Rail shipments to enter and load out of a Port in Canada. We will be highlighting the differences between exporting out of USA and challenges and uncertainties involved when a company executes intermodal shipments with either rail billed by shipper or by Ocean Liners from a different country. Process of obtaining an ITN with estimated set of information and refiling with accurate set of information will be explained. Consequences of either not obtaining ITN with estimated information or not refiling with accurate information will be discussed. We will explain how Scoular IT used the standard OTM functionality to overcome this challenge and supported the business be compliant with CPB. In addition, we will cover how we can implement checks and balances required in the process, within standard OTM functionality.

The session discusses the integration of on-premise OTM instance to other in network and out of network applications that are not very well known in the market. We will discuss workarounds to address XML/Webservice integration, explain the challenges we faced in building these integrations and lessons learned. In the process of building these integrations, we used a variety of integration tools and we will discuss their advantages and challenges. The advantages include, reusing the existing applications in the organization and using the no cost ODI application, that comes as an add on with OTM installation. Limitations include, restrictions while working with outside the network applications, restrictions while working with SOAP enabled webservices and complexities involved with different data models of other applications and data exchange protocols dictated by partners outside of our network. We will open the discussion to applications that other customers have integrated with OTM and what other tools they used for integration.
