How can you ensure consistency in video post-production?
If the video is interview driven, one tactic that I use is to edit my story first. I make sure that the message I’m crafting makes sense and achieves the goals I’ve laid out for the video or scene for longer format projects. Once the story is locked in, I can then add in music to help create the tone I’m looking for. Music selection is super important in my workflow. The wrong music choice can quickly derail even the strongest edit. I then add in my visual elements. Once I have the music decided, I can visualize how everything will come together. At this point it’s all finesse work.

What do you do if you run into technical issues during video production?
Your team can provide individualized experience to get you through any issues. Open lines of communication can lead to really valuable insights and solutions. It’s never a time to go it alone and problems are going to pop up. Being humble and open to feedback is definitely key and not being afraid to be vulnerable. In the end everyone is working towards a common goal.

What are the most common challenges in video production deadlines?
One way I’ve found to break through creative blocks is to allow myself some time away from the project where I don’t think about it. I’ve been stuck a lot throughout my career either during the writing process or in the edit bay. Something isn’t working or I can’t figure out how to cut a sequence. Stepping back and not consciously thinking through the project allows my subconscious to keep working in the background. Then after some time has passed, my brain has worked through the problem and the solution is clear. Taking yourself out of that stressful environment really gives way for more creative thought.
