What do you do if non-technical stakeholders struggle to understand complex IT concepts in IT Consulting?
This is where I lean on other team members that are better at sales . After a briefing, we conduct the presentation together. It's like having ice cream with the fancy sprinkles... Sales presents the basic treat and then the super geek provides the sprinkles. Not all the sprinkles will stick... but it's enough to make the presentation look pretty. :)

What are the key considerations for active shooter emergency response planning?
In our state... Teachers can be armed. Far cheaper than passive systems that are costly. Way more effective than plastic signs that say no bangs. And far superior throwing soup cans. Armed citizens serve as an immediate consequence for those who wish to cause harm to innocent people. Some schools have actually erected huge signs indicating their teacher are armed... Providing an effective deterrent. For the cost of one school resource officer per year on average... A school can arm and train almost 200 teachers. In summary... Most cowards don't attack facilities where there are consequences. They target defenseless people. Simply providing teachers the ability to exercise their existing freedoms appears to be a solution.

Founded and managed a Southern Ohio non-profit group that utilized technology for public safety needs. I developed, complimented and promoted various safety programs that were computer based. Our systems primarily farmed public records data from a wide variety of sources. We also implemented a city wide WiFi system to stream video into police cruisers before 3g/4g came along. They included: Operation-Gotcha - Allowed drivers to lodge complaints about unsafe driving. Our system would then dispatch a postcard to the unsafe drivers address while keeping both parties anonymous. This was designed to help reduce road rage incidents and provide educational safety without the involvement of gov authorities. Thereby saving tax dollars while making our roadway safer. Looks can be deceiving - This program allowed women to pre-screen prospective dates for criminal history. Crime Beacon - This system utilized the "Looks can be deceiving" interface and linked users performing searches to the county fugitive unit. In the event a person searched on someone with an open warrant, the fugitive unit would be notified via text msg based on the severity of the crime. EPWIA - A regional WiFi network designed to break the cycle of poverty by providing internet access to low income individuals. Where the goal was to provide educational resources to break the cycle of crime in communities. This system also carried the payload of encrypted data for public officials and video traffic. The non-profit group was wound down in 2007 due to personal matters that were consuming too much time.
