HR laws are constantly changing. This is a wonderful toolkit to help navigate the recent FLSA changes by the amazing Paul Falcone (if you haven't read any of his books yet, they are a must!). If you need help with FLSA changes or any other HR projects or questions, please reach out. Me and the HR Soul Consulting staff are here to be a helpful resource for you! #SoulifyYourHR #HR

This is a good list but not exhaustive, many CPOs are also expected to take the lead on culture for the organisation and internal communications. Relying on a strong leadership team is key to delivering on these diverse responsibilities so being a great leader and coach is also paramount

Recognizing May as Mental Health Month at Sunbelt Solomon. According to a 2023 Gallup poll, job burnout is one of the most pressing issues facing the global workforce: 28% of workers in a Gallup study say they are burned out “very often” or “always” at work. To address our Core Value of People, we have invested in resources to support the “whole” person including enhanced mental health resources with access to a dedicated licensed mental health professional, a robust wellbeing program, and increased training for supervisors to respond with empathy to team members. Don’t know how to start a conversation about mental health in the workplace? Try the Empathy Formula: “It sounds/looks like you are (insert feeling) about (insert fact).” PS3P = You matter in this equation

Are There Templates For Employee Handbooks Available To Me? There are many templates for employee handbooks available, which can serve as a great starting point for creating your own. Here are a few options to find templates: 1. Online HR Resources: Websites like SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management), Workable, and Rocket Lawyer offer a range of resources, including templates for employee handbooks. Some of these may require membership or a fee. 2. Legal Services: Online legal services like LegalZoom or Nolo often provide templates tailored to comply with general legal standards. These services might also offer customization options for your specific state or industry requirements. 3. HR Software: Many HR software platforms provide tools to help create and distribute employee handbooks. These platforms might also ensure that your handbook stays compliant with any updates in employment laws. 4. Professional Consultants: HR consultants or legal professionals can provide personalized assistance in creating an employee handbook that meets all legal requirements and aligns with your company culture and policies. 5. Free Online Templates: A simple web search can yield free templates that can be downloaded and customized. Be cautious with these to ensure they meet the specific legal requirements of your location and sector. When using a template, it's important to customize it to your organization's specific needs. Consider factors like your business size, location, industry, culture, and specific operational practices. It's also highly advisable to have the final document reviewed by a legal professional or an HR expert to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations. This step is crucial because an outdated or legally inaccurate handbook can create rather than mitigate legal risks.

🔍 What to Do When Salaried Employees Fall Below the New Overtime Threshold Starting July 1, the new DOL rule increases the minimum salary for overtime exemption. Employers must decide whether to raise pay to meet the new threshold or convert employees to nonexempt status. Each choice has financial and morale implications, so preparation and clear communication are crucial. Need guidance navigating these changes? I’m highly motivated by the WorldatWork #TotalRewards24 conference in Cincinnati that included over 2,000 Total Rewards professionals. A few takeaways from the sessions: ✔️Arming our frontline managers with the education and tools to have the tough and meaningful conversations is what is needed to drive transparency into data driven decision making ✔️Visualizing data is > than summarizing data ✔️AI is our friend

As HR professionals we’re so busy supporting others and being part of establishing and enabling business priorities. We rarely take time to reflect on how our role impacts us on a personal level. Resilience is definitely a must . We never feel sorry for ourselves when we have to support organizational restructuring and having difficult conversations. We just keep going and worry about the impact on “our people”. How thrilling is it to be able to support the needs of 4 unique generations at one time. Navigating a workplace that is inclusive to the needs of these generations and attracting and retaining them. Share your insights would love to hear your experience?
