This is the daily allowance or specific amount of money an organization gives an employee, per day to cover living expenses when traveling for work . Section 29 and 30 of the Labor Act backs this expense. Organizations are expected to have a policy which contains a schedule of rates per location for different cadre of staff Expenses include meals ,hotels, inconvenience, etc. allowances In the public service, it is called estacode,It refers to the daily allowance or stipend provided to public officials who are travelling outside their usual work location, typically to another city or country. In the Why Phase of SWORD, we co-create a safe space to work through our emotions. Why? Because our emotions are the catalyst for our behaviors and actions. We do or do not based on how we feel. Emotional development is a must for our inclusion journey. Here is why: **NUMBER ONE: We need to acknowledge what we are feeling for self-regulation purposes which assist us to leverage emotions. **NUMBER TWO: We practice calming the body (meditation). Biologically, we cannot access the executive function (decision-making) of the brain when we are emotional. **NUMBER THREE: We prepare ourselves for the ebb and flow. Inclusion is creative learning; thus it is emotional. I I am thrilled to share my recent experience leading the "Crafting Cultural Compassion" workshop for RBIJ’s Unlocking Potential (UP) program. This initiative is dedicated to equipping major employers to use hiring to disrupt the prison pipeline and empower young people through meaningful, long-term career opportunities In our training session, we dived into practical strategies and interactive discussions aimed at fostering empathy, understanding, and respect. Here are some core components we covered: ⏩Embracing Cultural Diversity: We explored the critical role of cultural fluency in creating inclusive environments, emphasizing the importance of understanding and celebrating diverse cultural experiences and perspectives . ⏩Building Empathy and Compassion: Participants learned techniques to develop deeper empathy and cultivate compassion, which are essential in connecting authentically with young people. ⏩Effective Communication Strategies: The workshop highlighted ways to communicate sensitively and effectively, ensuring that young individuals from varied backgrounds feel heard and understood. We shaped scenarios that participants were able to use communication strategies we designed in real time. ⏩Navigating Cultural Differences: We discussed how to identify and bridge cultural gaps to foster meaningful connections and mutual respect with youth. ⏩Creating Inclusive Environments: Strategies were shared on how to construct spaces where every young person feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive. The engagement and commitment from all the participating organizations were inspiring. It was a privilege to contribute to this transformative journey towards more inclusive leadership in youth engagement.
