Local Law 126 requires all of NYC’s parking structures to be inspected by 2027, with follow-up assessments every six years. The DOB recently mandated that all parking structures in sub-cycles 1B & 1C complete a one-time initial observation by August 1, 2024. A Qualified Parking Structure Inspector (QPSI) must conduct these observations, and a form must be filed with the DOB by the deadline. This is a nice looking bridge, although I think most people going to Cape Cod care more about whether the new bridge will reduce traffic congestion, which this will hopefully do. An interesting aspect of this article is the reference to possible delays related to the relocation of gas lines. I'm dealing with a dispute on a project now where the contractor is unhappy with the "no damages for utility delay" clause in the contract. Most public owners have little influence on how quickly independent utility companies perform their work, so contractors must do all they can at the time of contracting to address these possible (likely?) delays or else be left with getting only a non-compensable time extension. On a project the size of the new Sagamore Bridge, any significant utility delay could mean millions of dollars in extra costs for the contractor. #construction #infrastructure #arcadis https://lnkd.in/enVDpbuj

As we continue to celebrate 40 years of impactful projects at Fisher Associates, we're excited to share the story of our work on the I-590 & Winton Road Interchange in Monroe County, New York. This project, honored with awards from ITE and ACEC, exemplifies our dedication to innovation and community-focused engineering solutions. Partnering with NYSDOT Region 4, we tackled the challenge of improving traffic flow and safety on the I-590/Winton Road Interchange and along the adjacent roadway corridor. Our team leveraged cutting-edge 4D traffic simulations to evaluate multiple design alternatives, focusing on enhancing intersection efficiency while minimizing disruption to the community. The project's centerpiece, the Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI), introduced for the first time in New York State, revolutionized traffic management by virtually eliminating left-turning conflicts and reducing congestion. Since completion, the DDI has significantly improved travel times and enhanced overall interchange performance and safety, benefiting both commuters and local businesses. Throughout the project, Fisher Associates prioritized a collaborative approach, fostering a strong partnership with stakeholders and advocating for community interests. Our 4D visualization model was instrumental in educating the community on the operation of a DDI and how operations and safety would be improved with this interchange configuration. By engaging with local businesses and residents, we ensured that their voices were heard, and their needs addressed, creating a sense of shared ownership in the project's success.
