    Summer Staff at Rockbridge Camp

    For a month, I volunteered as a PM Cook at a Young Life camp. As a cook, I helped prepare and cook dinner for hundreds of campers every week. Additionally, as a member of the summer staff team, I helped set up, break down, and participate in theme nights and special events.

  • The Effects of Ego-Depletion and Highly Restrictive Goals on Goal Evaluation

    In this small research group, we conducted and presented original research about ego depletion and goal evaluation. Our findings indicated that there is a clear, significant relationship between ego-depletion, goal restrictiveness and overall goal evaluation. For this experiment, I helped gather participants, analyzed raw data, wrote a research paper, and presented a conference style presentation poster.

  • Emotions and Judgement: Can We Separate the Two?

    In a First Year Seminar about mental states and language use, I conducted original research with a small group. The research was based on the idea that people project their emotions onto others, disrupting their perception when attempting to read others’ emotions. We created our experiment, gathered participant groups, analyzed data, and presented our findings to the class.

  • Is the Haven Module Working? : A Look at Opinion Differences between Genders

    This quantitative research looked at student opinions on the implementation of the sexual assault prevention module, Haven, and its effectiveness on campus. The study analyzed the opinions by gender, revealing male opposition to such modules and support for such modules by females, despite a belief in its effectiveness.

  • “And the Crowd Goes Wild”: How and Why UNC Basketball Fandom Came To Be

    To better understand the UNC men's basketball fandom, I conducted an ethnography which required attending games and interviewing fans . I also conducted research on the psychology of fandom and team identification.
