This explains a lot. Many return-to-office mandates are deliberately designed to make hybrid and remote workers miserable so that they quit. Many execs are using RTO as a backchannel layoff. And if too few people quit, then leadership resorts to explicit layoffs. So, if you saw a company announce layoffs 6 months after an RTO campaign, that should tell you something about that company's leadership.

I'm so pleased to share my The Harris Poll colleague Christina (Scardino) Lojek's important work exploring maternal health in the United States. In fact, this is the second year she has explored these topics and the results show that we could - and should - be doing much more to make pregnancy and childbirth better for all. The report explores 8 main themes including safety of giving birth in the U.S., access to care, maternity leave, health issues during the pregnancy journey, patient education/standards of practice, care ratings, fourth trimester care, and improving the patient experience. Here are the highlights: 🤰 Americans are poorly informed about giving birth, especially when it comes to risks and complications 🤰 Information and resources on pertinent topics related to the biggest job of pregnancy by far, labor and delivery, are inadequate, likely leaving many expecting mothers unprepared for birth and contributing to negative outcomes and experiences 🤰 Postpartum care and education are grossly lacking, and is compounded by lack of attention to mothers after delivery 🤰 Young women (18-34) and women who faced challenges accessing care are discernibly more likely to report negative experiences during their pregnancy journey Read more in the HealthDay News story or contact Christina to learn more. What does a health system CFO prioritize in 2024? My KLAS Research colleagues and I have a chance to ask these types of questions to healthcare leaders every day, and the answers are always enlightening.   Mollie Hunt, who directs the research for revenue cycle services at KLAS, posed the above question to CFO of an east coast health system, and this person's answers shed some light on the situation in which healthcare finance leaders find themselves.   Chief financial officers always have a lot on their minds, and this leader is no exception. But what is this particular leader's highest priority? It's driving down the cost to collect. A few years ago, the system's cost to collect $100 was $5. The system has since invested in #digitalhealth solutions that have brought the cost to collect to around $2.30.   Solutions such as patient #financialengagement applications and #patientfinancing services have helped the organization approach its goal of getting their cost to collect to below $2. The CFO said that digital payment solutions are what they hope will get them over the finish line.   In fact, this system hopes to go completely cashless. The cost of managing the cash the system collects is actually higher than the collections it brings in.   Bear in mind, this is just one organization's situation. But the fact that the system's highest priority is a blocking and tackling type of answer points to the difficult cash flow situation some hospitals and health systems find themselves in.   The CFO spoke to Mollie because he wanted to share his experience with his patient financial engagement solution and his patient financing service. A fantastic article that articulates what a lot of qualitative researchers just know intuitively; 🗣 There are six different categories of questions; Introductory, Follow-up, Full switch, Partial switch, Mirror and Rhetorical. Follow-up questions are much more appealing than “switch” questions that change topic, or “mirror” questions that simply copy what someone has already asked. Avoid boomerasking—that’s the habit of posing a question as an excuse to talk about yourself. We do this without thinking when writing a discussion guide 🗣 Many of us rely on the wrong cues to signal our interest in others. Nonverbal and paralinguistic cues are often genuine signs of attention, they can also be faked so we need to verbally acknowledge what someone has said e.g. paraphrasing. Something we do as interviewers 🗣 The novelty penalty is a general preference to hear about familiar experiences. It’s why people would rather hear about the issues you had a baggage claim than your exotic holiday at a resort they haven’t been to. There are strategies to overcome this e.g. vivid storytelling that helps to put the other person in your shoes. What’s the unheralded workhorse of clinical trials? Randomization and Trial Supply Management or #RTSM A complex protocol is like blueprint for an amazing skyscraper and the IRT experts are the construction workers who make that vision a reality. And if all goes well, no one notices. But if there is a problem, it could be a disaster. Granted, every role in trial conduct is challenging and requires dedication, experience, and attention to detail. But there is something special about keeping thousands of patients organized into blinded treatment arms while ensuring they get the right medications and supplies in a global study. Many of us don’t consider what it takes to make this happen, just as many of us don’t question what it takes for Amazon to get a purchase to our door withing hours of an order. When I started learning about eclincal technology at Bioclinica, I thought it was simple. A site is supposed to enroll ten patients, so that site gets ten kits. Boy was I wrong. 4G Clinical’s Casey Ferrier set me straight. Predicting adequate drug supply is a science and an art. And the right IRT, properly managed, is a true asset in any trial. Endpoint Clinical has published a great article outlining how a properly managed IRT goes beyond RTSM to support efficient trial conduct, focusing on five key areas: 1.     Aligning Procurement Strategies with IRT Systems 2.     Streamlining Clinical Operations through IRT Integration 3.     Optimizing Clinical Trial Supply Management with Real-time Monitoring 4.     Regulatory Compliance and Quality Control in IRT Systems 5.     Data-Driven Strategic Decision-making for Supply Managers It’s a quick read, and I’d encourage anyone who wants to learn more about this fascinating aspect of clinical trials to check it out at the link below. Dear Organizations, 508 accessibility standards exist. Please use them. Signed, We the differently abled. Editing to add that there's really nothing more distressing, depressing and damned irritating than trying to establish a relationship with a vendor and they have trouble meeting your basic need to be able to READ their documents. Honestly folks, it can only redound to your benefit if recipients can actually engage with the materials you share. I know! I know! My vision problems are mine, not yours; but if I'm your point of contact, suddenly, my problem is yours too. I can't engage with you meaningfully if I can't read what you wrote or can't work with your tech. This isn't that complicated. Votes cast- futures shift Whispers of change fill the air New dawn's light appears #fraikufriday To the surprise of no one, the 2024 election is filled with incredibly dynamic forces.  If you're looking at polling data from last week, you're effectively looking at data from last decade.  You need an up to date understanding of the American electorate, and you need to be able to understand how to put the right message in front of the right person at the right time.

Here's something that I think is a product of bias in research design leading to poor decisions, and I'm making a prediction: Jif will see a decrease in sales and revert back to more clinical looking packaging. If you ask the question "Is sustainability important to you in your cleaning products?" then you'll generate a hugely positive response, and you'll be tempted to make big calls on your product design and go all-in on Sustainability messaging. If you ask the more open question "What is important to you from your cleaning products?" and allow respondents to answer in their own words, "Sustainability" will feature a long, long way below "Cleans my oven well". This packaging certainly makes Jif seem like a more eco-friendly product, but the brownish tint doesn't exactly scream "clean", and a buyer's quick decision making at the shelf will be to pick the more clinical looking, brilliant white products IMO. Will be interesting to see if I'm right!
