There are also many different styles of approaches and communication. While some are very effective, others result in challenges or not achieving the right results. Preparation is key. Practice is essential. This interactive session will examine three common scenarios and dissect their components. Situations will be acted out LIVE in front of the audience, followed by input and Q&A from the audience, and on-the-spot feedback from the client. Using the firm's original 1965 logo mark for inspiration, we developed a retro-modern vibe for all materials incorporating the tagline “celebrating 50 years of passionate responsibility”, a listing of the firm's services, and a women-owned logo. It was a delicate balance to convey all of our goals in a crisp, clean way. Looking at the logo as a design element, we played with it as a pattern and adjusted the “tail” for various applications.

In response to SMPS' new society mission of "Business Transformed through Marketing Leadership", the New York Chapter launched a new Executive Roundtable Series aimed at providing high-level business training, networking, and peer discussion to the owners, principals, and C-Suite at AEC/RE companies.

A repositioning of the chapter’s annual Principal’s Breakfast, the event shifted the focus from upcoming project opportunities to a more thought-provoking, brainstorming session of how firms can provide more value and increase their profitability.

Breaking from the conventional panel format, the audience members themselves drove the discussion, which was facilitated by Brent Robertson of Fathom. Rather than directing a linear program about an overall economic forecast, market trends or projects that may or may not come to fruition in five years, Brent instead asked participants to challenge themselves and their colleagues in an examination of why architecture and engineering industries lag behind when it comes to profitability and how they can change the course.

In Part 2, Firm leaders exchanged ideas with private sector clients in the university, healthcare, and residential sectors, about ways that AEC companies can bring more value to clients in a competitive market.

The program included the creation of a facebook group with weekly updates where they could ask questions and network with each other before the conference, a First Timers’ Journey Map that highlighted key events that were outside of regular program sessions, and a robust networking event at the conference.

The agenda for First Timer's Orientation event itself included top 10 takeaways, a custom icebreaker for the attendees to get to know each other, and a presentation on how to build their network.
