With so many innovations hitting the market (many of which will show up on the show floor at Newtopia Now), it's important for retailers to understand the latest category management strategies. We're excited for this awesome workshop the Thrive neighborhood at Newtopia Now later this summer, which is one of many sessions focused on supporting retail differentiation. Join INFRA’s Danelle Rydel, VP of member success and Angela Bozo, director of member programs, for a discussion of innovation opportunities within modern category management paradigms. They will tackle the questions: Are subcategories too narrow to encourage real category innovation? What strategies have worked for defying categorization? From the conversations and research we've done at Enlyft, B2B organizations are putting increasing focus on 'ABM.' But we're also finding that many GTM teams still struggle to predict right accounts to focus on that truly match their ICP (and not just a firmographic cut). In some cases, building out AI-based predictive models is the answer. For others, it's leveraging unique data to enhance their current modeling and scoring efforts. I'm also leading an Industry Breakout session at #SSP2024 called "Publishing Systems that Enable Collaboration and Build Community" at noon on Wednesday! The publishing process has become highly automated, with online systems handling much of the coordination and communication between authors, editors, reviewers and other professionals involved in the scholarly publishing endeavor. Technology is not just used to keep the publishing process organized, tools and microservices are now being seamlessly integrated into workflows, increasing the efficiency for all participants in the value chain, assisting our shared infrastructure, and ultimately shortening the time from submission to publication. Online publishing systems also offer the opportunity for organizations that serve the scholarly researcher to collaborate, providing important services directly to the researcher and publisher during the publishing process. Nonprofits that provide industrywide standards are integrated into the workflow alongside commercial companies that build new and innovative products. Suppliers of PIDs, like ORICD and Ringgold, help connect people, places and money. Those PIDs are used by services the OA Switchboard to facilitate funding recognition. Initiatives like the STM Research Integrity Hub and AAMC’s Convey help reinforce trust in science by identifying potential fraud in research. Companies like Prophy help editors increase diversity in their reviewer pool, helping to relieve the crisis in peer review. All of these organization are made more efficient through integration with automated workflows. In this session, we will discuss how a modern, modular microservice-based workflow system can be designed to encourage collaboration. Each of the above-named services will discuss how they are involved in building scholarly community. Together we will show how our scholarly shared infrastructure is made more accessible when these services are easily available to researchers, editors and publishers, through online systems.

A recent Wall Street Journal article by Isabella Simonetti (gifted link below) reveals that TV networks are embracing their aging viewership and challenging the notion that younger demographics are the most valuable targets for advertisers. With the median age of viewers now in their 50s and 60s (MTV viewers average 51 years old!) for many networks, executives argue that reaching consumers based on their purchasing habits, rather than age, is the key to effective advertising. Older viewers often have more disposable income, are less sensitive to price increases, and are still making brand decisions. By focusing on the mass-market reach of TV and targeting people likely to buy a product, regardless of age, media buyers are adapting to the changing landscape of television viewership. As media and entertainment professionals, it's crucial to recognize the importance of this demographic shift and adapt our approaches accordingly.
