Investors, commentators, and journalists remain fixated on #inflation and, ultimately, its impact on monetary policy. For nearly a year, writers are like a broken record, parsing the same data with the same rhetoric, looking for the first hint of the elusive pivot by the Federal Reserve. As far as the Federal Reserve’s Chairman is concerned, there’s no hurry to cut rates. While the most recent inflation data was encouraging, it is probably not enough to convince Federal Reserve officials to cut earlier than September. Digital assets continued recent bearish momentum, after an early-week rally was erased by renewed gloomy interest rate forecasts from the Federal Reserve and late Mt. Gox movements. The SEC continued its crusade against the industry, but there was still some positive reporting; Japanese conglomerate Sony announced the launch of its own crypto exchange, several stablecoin firms secured major regulatory approval, and a Bitcoin miner made a $155m acquisition, amongst several other stories. For a more detailed #deepdive into why this news matters, refer to the full weekly roundup in the comments below. #digitalassets #news

2050 Investment Advisory Group at RJL
Reflecting on the turbulence of the 2008 subprime crisis, we're reminded of George Soros' critical insights into the economic forces at play. 📉💡 Soros, a prominent investor and philanthropist, challenges the age-old belief in Adam Smith's 'invisible hand.' According to Soros, the notion that markets can self-regulate to achieve balance and efficiency doesn't hold up in the complexity of modern economies. Instead, he points to the irrationality of markets, their failure to allocate resources efficiently, and the resulting need for government intervention to prevent disasters and ensure equity. 🌍 The 2008 crisis serves as an example, where unchecked market practices led to a global financial meltdown, highlighting the dangers of relying solely on market forces. While a true invisible hand may not be possible due to government intervention, this may be a good thing as Soros criticism points out the flaws in the idea. 💡

TheStreet
U.S. equity futures bumped higher Wednesday, while Treasury yields and the dollar held steady, as investors looked to snap a three-day losing streak on Wall Street while closely eyeing Israel's expected response to Iran's weekend missile strike. Tensions in the region, which accelerated sharply following Iran's unprecedented attack on Israeli soil late Saturday, have yet to fully work their way into global markets. Oil prices have fallen for the past three sessions and stocks largely tracking both Federal Reserve interest-rate forecasts and the start to the first-quarter earnings season. Check back for updates throughout the trading day.
