Happening Now!!!! The very exciting Circularity, its the event of the year in everyone's favorite city, Chicago. This a global conversation on how we change our ecosystems to eliminate waste. Clever is very please to contribute to this cause by demonstrating how fruit waste, particularly the critical component of farm loss, can be bioprocessed (fermented) into a valuable nutraceutical. In many jurisdiction often 25% of the best superfood in the world, never leaves the farm. The answer that unlocks this challenge is something we call the More Than Context. We need to stop thinking its ok to gather a waste product and develop a method to create new products that create a less than product. It won't find its way to the shelf and won't be sustainable. We need to create More Than products. When it comes to plants, bioprocessing is a viable option, including the style of fermentation that Clever Fruit pioneers. We bioprocess superfruit with the aim to create products 3-5 times more beneficial than the original fruit. That degree of added benefit will find a market, be sustainable and contribute to circularity. There are many ways to process waste and add value. Let's Go!

Recently, the U.S. Government announced the publication of a Joint Statement of Policy and new Principles for Responsible Participation in Voluntary Carbon Markets (VCMs). These principles aim to ensure that carbon markets drive meaningful climate action while promoting economic opportunity. Voluntary Carbon Markets (VCMs) have the potential to drive significant progress in combating climate change. However, they face challenges in ensuring the integrity and credibility of carbon credits. Recent observations have revealed discrepancies in the reliability of crediting methodologies, raising concerns about transparency and accountability in the market. The new Principles will effectively address these challenges while ensuring the high integrity of the Voluntary Carbon Market. These principles aim to establish robust standards for carbon credit supply and demand, improve market functioning, and ensure fair treatment of all participants. Spotlight on Matthew Carter, an industry leader: He discusses how we can reduce emissions by maximizing waste container use in research facilities! Matthew is an Assistant Operations Manager with years of experience in the research waste disposal industry, first at WM and now at Veolia. His current role involves the strategic planning of operations and transportation across four territories in Northern California pushing all the way up to Oregon State. Under his leadership, he identified practices to minimize the environmental impact of research waste disposal. Matthew observed that hazardous waste containers were often transported before reaching full capacity, leading to unnecessary trips. To solve this, he suggests ensuring that the containers are fully utilized before transport which can reduce the frequency of trips to treatment facilities and lower research institutions scope 3 emissions! Matthew emphasizes the importance of collaboration, urging teams to “avoid working in silos” and to continuously identify and address areas for improvement in sustainability.
