  • Bo "Papa" Huryn Scholarship Fund

    - Present

    Bo "Papa" Huryn was a refugee, All - American soccer player ('57 & '59), and a dedicated parent, grandparent, coach, referee, and volunteer for over 40 years for New Bern area soccer.

    The Bo Huryn Scholarship fund celebrates the life of Papa and goes directly to fund dues and equipment for children in need in the New Bern, N.C. area to play soccer. Follow the project link if you'd like to donate.

  • The House That 2015 Built

    -

    As UNC's Senior Class President, I led the UNC Class of 2015 as we raised $25,000 from outside sources and partnered with UNC Class of 1965 to fund and build a Habitat for Humanity house for a UNC Dining Services employee

    The project was awarded a prestigious CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) award for its innovative partnership between students and alumni.

    The Dozen Doughnut Dash is a charity race that raises money for the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. I was the president of the charity race executive board for two years as we raised over $34,000 for the Lineberger Center.

    Sasha Seymore, Dylan Simel, and Ahmad Saad – a Christian, Jew and Muslim, respectively, dribbled soccer balls across the state of North Carolina for religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence in the Middle East. We logged over 450 miles, were sponsored by Eurosport & soccer.com, and raised over $10,000 in in-kind donations.

  • Morehead - Cain Scholar

    Modeled after the Rhodes Scholarship, the Morehead-Cain was the first merit-based scholarship established in the United States. It includes four fully-funded years of study at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an extensive summer enrichment program.

    Scholarship selection is based on the criteria of academic scholarship, leadership, character, and physical vigor. Less than 3% of nominees are awarded the Morehead-Cain scholarship.
