How about a thought-provoking Monday morning? In his recent TED talk, Vinod Khosla, a prominent techno-optimist, outlines 12 bold predictions for our future. "Experts extrapolate the past. They prevent radical progress because they don't think nonlinearly. They don't think of the improbable. I personally believe only the improbables are important." Khosla believes that technological progress should be driven by empathy and care. He emphasizes the importance of thinking beyond conventional limits and that embracing the improbable with passion and compassion can lead to groundbreaking advancements. Looking forward, AI will revolutionize expertise accessibility. He predicts some ambitious goals for us in the next 25 years, "Every human being on the planet can have, 24/7, a free doctor for primary care in a very expansive way. Every child will have a free tutor available and accessible." Expertise in fields like structural engineering and oncology will become near-free, making a world of abundance possible. Our latest collaboration with Northwestern Medicine on developing next-generation healthcare-oriented multimodal large language models (mLLMs) is a brilliant example of great things happening right now at the intersection of tech and healthcare. Our solution has two major vectors: ✅ Building capable high-performance computing (HPC) clusters is part of this solution, necessary to further develop such mLLM applications and scale them using hospitals' data. Reposting because this has become such a hot topic. Agree with Rich Whitney that Ge Bai's analysis is an excellent read. There is a very good argument - as Rich articulates - that the market as an unforgiving arbiter of success and failure, does a far better job regulating outcomes than anything else in the aggregate. It is clear that public funding has led to bad outcomes and private funding to good and vice versa.

While many work directly in #Healthcare or #LifeSciences we all should be interested in how these #NextGen AI solutions (#LargeLanguageModels and #MultiModalModels) can help to decrease cognitive load for the clinicians, improve patent outcomes and create operational efficiencies that could potentially lead to more affordable healthcare in the future. There's a new term in healthcare: "Ethical Administrator". The new transparency mandates and associated vendor initiatives have shined the light on the difference between "Ethical" and "Unethical" when it comes to claims administration on behalf of commercial health plan sponsors (employers). If you haven't joined #HCAA, you might want to consider joining. Big healthcare AI news yesterday as Tempus AI received the first-ever CPT code for an algorithm-only analysis of previously-sequenced, laboratory developed test transcriptomic data. TLDR: AI molecular phenotyping has a new business model. The PurISTSM test uses RNA profiling to identify molecular subtypes in patients with advanced pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, which may inform first-line therapy selection and management. While I'm skeptical that payer balance sheets are going to solve the "who pays for healthcare AI" problem, the reimbursement pipes for clinical AI are maturing. I am surprised to see more progress for usage-based vs. performance-based models given the many challenges with FFS economics. It will be interesting to see how payers assess the "medical necessity" and therefore reimbursability of clinical AI as these models come to market. https://t.co/eLe18SmihV
