*actual PSA to all aspiring screenwriters* Anyone who gives you advice on how to get a manager, how to formulate a "perfect" logline, how to pitch yourself in a meeting, or how to send out query emails, is essentially full of shit. Anyone who speaks like that has no actual experience in the industry. There's one piece of advice that actually matters: write really awesome shit. Don't spend time worrying about anything besides getting better as a writer. Read a ton of screenplays, good and bad, and write every single day. Don't listen to anything else. That's all that matters. Good writing always finds its way into the right hands.

❓ 🤔 ❓ What's the best way to get pronunciation clarifications to your voice actor? ✍ There are lots of ways to do it...YouTube clips with the word mentioned, phonetic spellings, audio clips linked to the script...they all do the trick, but they also seem a little labor intensive for the client, if you ask me. 📲 Recently a client of mine did something I hadn't seen before. Instead of trying to explain things in the script with spelled out words or YouTube clips, the client just went through all the pronunciations using the voice recorder on her phone. 🗣 She'd let me know where on the page she was reading, so I could orient myself to that section of the script, and then repeated the word 2 times very clearly for the voice memo. She did this for every word or acronym that needed clarification, and I think it took her a total of 3 minutes, if that. 😊 The audio file I got from her was exactly what I needed to prep my script and make sure that I sounded fluent and confident in the terminology I was reading. I'm a fan! 👏 👉 👉👉 What methods do you use to communicate your preferred pronunciations? Have any of your methods ever backfired?

This is the model used by sit-com writers to know where to write jokes. Not just these, but also their relationship to each other, like put a character is an impossible situation, then write the funny line or bits that come from it. Here's a little (not-so) secret about editing UKR: I don't speak Ukrainian... Without a translator, I relied on a few tools to provide translations and subtitles that I've found useful: Builder (FCPX only) - https://lnkd.in/gM4ncP8B MacWhisper (uses ChatGPT to translate audio files) - https://lnkd.in/gZdXpyT5 These 2 tools have let me get translations that are close enough to start work. Without spending lots of money or having to wait days for turnaround. If anyone has other translation/subtitle tools. I'd love to hear about them in the comments. #documentaryfilm #ukrainewar

All use of AI-generated Art (any kind) should be labelled as such. Let's start by calling it AI-Viz (instead of AI Art) and have a disclaimer saying "This documentary uses AI to visualize people and events" (in which case it ceases to be a documentary in its truest form).

Artist compensation isn't only a problem in the music industry, but also for authors. And the interesting thing is, a new study suggests readers are far more sensitive to the struggle authors face with compensation than for musicians. Maybe it's because music has been almost free for so long that we've just become used to the status quo and many forget about the artists struggling to make ends meet and just see the Taylor Swifts of the world making millions. This problem has come to fruition more prominently recently due to changing fee structures for Spotify. The company recently announced in the UK that there will be a new 'Music Only' tier for £10.99 a month or a Music and Audiobook tier for £11.99 a month. The problem is...will either of these new tiers see the artists and authors earn more? Will one's profits eat into the other and Spotify take the extra? Pricing for music does need to change. But it needs to be clearer and benefit the creators. We need to concentrate and support the creation of any type of art.
