If one stopped and asked themself what compelled the State legislature of California to become the only State in the Union to pass a law that requires Youth tackle football Organizations and their coaches, to find, learn and apply the highest Standard of Care to prevent CTE to Youth tackle football players, what would be the answer? Well, in my opinion it's because Assemblyman Jim Cooper applied Due Diligence and discovered The Hosea-Method. This Bill protects children by controlling adult behavior, requiring them to teach the "evidence-based" way for children to be taught the highest Standard of Care of tackling instruction, to protect and maintain the immediate and long term brain health and wellness of all tackle football playing children. Is Andropause real? YES! We know from first hand experience and research from our community supports how common this issue is now for modern men and why our Andropause supplement Silverback continually sells out. This lack of knowledge leads to underdiagnosis and minimal discussion about the condition​. We are working hard to change this landscape but can't do it on our own. What we need now is to offer the same focus on failing men’s health – helping the other half of the population get access to similar products and services we have in abundance. Getting our products into Boots was a milestone but we need a movement. There is so much talk about longevity optimization. And yet, life circumstance isn't mentioned very often. How do you optimize for the following (very common) summer example? Mom of young kid(s). School is out. Camps cost $$$ Perimenopause is looming. Summer nights mean late bedtimes. Alone time/ self-care is scarce. The first thing you do is tell the person, it's not their fault and not to beat themselves up when things fall by the wayside. Then you support incremental changes until Labor Day 😅 No revenge bedtime procrastination (try and get sleep). You don't need a glass of wine every night. Exercise snacks. For many of us mental health care professionals, the link between adolescent social media usage and declining mental health is clear. We don't always have the gold standard “RTC” evidence to prove it, nor would an RTC be easy to design and conduct. But we DO have the anecdotal evidence – the stories of young people and their families whose lives have been massively disrupted, and sometimes even ended, due to boom of the online world. I for one was excited to see Jonathan Haidt take a bold leap in his recent book “Anxious Generation”, where he highlighted that at some point enough correlation becomes causation and he claimed that the rise in depression, anxiety, suicide, etc. is being CAUSED by social media. I also appreciated him not just highlighting the problem, but offering solutions – collective actions - that we as a society all have a responsibility to undertake. One of those collection actions hit home for me – PLAY MORE! Play is topic that I studied extensively in my training as an occupational therapist (thanks Heather Kuhaneck, PhD OTR/L FAOTA 😊 ) And it is an aspect of human life that is essential to our nature and essential to our human development. Unfortunately for most, the art of play has become lost. Summer is a crucial time – school ends and with it, so does the structure that guides the day-to-day lives of our youth. What is left is a vacuum of time and how will that time be filled? With Tik-Tok, video games, and endless scrolling? Or with laughter, movement, healthy risk taking, freedom, and PLAY! What are you doing to facilitate a more play based summer???

Finally some good news about Colorado's legal rec market. I was so proud that my home state of CO was the first to legalize adult use c@nn@bis in 2013. But the CO market has been circling the drain since hitting the high water mark in sales during the pandemic. Flagship brands have left the state. OG stores are closing. Grows are going belly up. People are losing their jobs. And we're falling behind other states' more forward-thinking regulatory frameworks for consumption lounges, delivery, hemp D9. I find it all very depressing, and a little embarrassing TBH. 🫣 But now, there's a new study that shows MJ use by teens is at an all-time low at 12.8%, down from 19.7% since legalization in 2013. It also found that the perception of ease of access to MJ by youth dropped from 54.9% in 2013 to 40.4%. (Link to article in comments.) There are other studies showing similar results, and kudos to CO for proving the fear-mongering prohibitionists wrong!
