Responsible for coaching motivated young people looking to participate in the Ag Mechanics CDE (Career Development Event). Subjects covered include: small engines, compact tractors/skidsteer loaders/round balers, electric motors and controls, masonry, welding/oxyfuel cutting and welding, plumbing, and proper use of tools. I am often teaching these skills to individuals with little or no prior knowledge of these subjects in cooperation with their shop instructor and FFA Advisor using actual physical, web-based, and print materials of the subjects covered. Often, I will source physical examples and demonstrator items from local scrapyards and scrap materials from repairs I make to customer machines. I accompany the students to regional and state events to support and encourage them. I answer any and all questions students have of all things mechanical, and encourage and connect those that wish to pursue a career in the trades by utilizing industry connections I have cultivated over the years. This cause has been my greatest experience in helping others to date, as I can mentor young people, help to elevate them to their own greatness, and change the culture of the trades for the better by modeling positive behaviors.
