Mid-summer updates: About 4 weeks through my ADP sales internship and have some solid takeaways... 🔔 Utilizing resources especially in such a big corporation is absolutely essential! Don't be afraid to ask questions and gain as much insight as possible. Being an intern is the best time to not know what to do or how to get something done. 🔔 Failure! It's a good thing to put yourself in a situation where you can fail at such a young age... depending on the way you view it. There's never a better time than now to mess something up and learn from it. Growth mindset! 🔔 Time management is key in a such a flexible position. Staying active and getting in a groove is extremely important in a job where its entirely up to you to manage your day-to-day tasks. A huge shoutout to my fellow interns, sales team, and the entire La Palma office for bringing some great energy day-in and day-out. This has been a huge learning experience thus far, and I'm excited for the next few weeks! A special thank you to Julia O’Ravitz, Shanelle Escobar, and Jasmine Koshkerian for your mentorship - your advice is invaluable.

People Buy from People they Like.   You might be selling the best apples in the world. But you will substantially cut your customer base if they don’t even want to hear about it.   Liking has 3 Primary Benefits in Sales: -       Prospect considers you before the product pitch. -       Prospect is willing to give you a chance to discuss their objections. -       Prospect starts to consider you as a team member.   It’s not You vs Them, it’s You & Them vs Problem. Show them that.   So, how to build liking on your first interaction: Similarity - Show the prospect how you have been in / dealt with a similar situation before. - EX: If their startup growing 200% YoY, make a connection with your organization (another high-growth startup). Praise - No, not the ‘You’re the best company’ type. - Compliment them on an achievement they are proud of. But more importantly, something they want to live up to. - EX: “I see the sales department celebrated their internship program completion yesterday. Glad to see how [Company] celebrates everyone's journey alike”. There’s more, but that’s for another day.   Also, if you’re cold emailing: Scrap this and everything else that doesn’t talk about the problem, please. Get to the point.   Interpreted from Robert B. You hate to see another March Madness come to an end, but in comes the NBA playoffs with their 5th year of play-in games beginning tonight This innovation was a reaction to a pandemic that caused the league to adapt and try to soften loses, in the NBA’s case a 10% revenue lose and a 37% viewership lose in 2020 The short version of the format is that seeds 7-10 in each conference compete to determine the final two playoff spots in their conference 7 vs 8 and the winner secures their spot, the loser has a chance to face the winner of 9 vs 10 for last spot (loser of 9 vs 10 eliminated) Regardless of criticism, the league rebounded from pandemic era business struggles and kept this innovation around Just two and half years later, they hit the $10b revenue mark for the first time The goal of the move from a business standpoint was obviously more playoff games = more viewership = more money, but it also hoped to replicate the depth of teams and underdog possibilities that March Madness has They also hoped to incentivize teams with extra playoff spots giving the middle of the pack teams a chance which, in theory, limits tanking Tuesday-Friday marks the start and it has some massive stars It also includes the Miami Heat team who just last year, as a team who lost their first play-in game, advanced to the finals It was hard for me to type that, but it had to be said. But the Celtics are back Nonetheless, LeBron James, Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Joel Embiid are some of the stars starting the 2024 NBA playoffs and I have a feeling these guys definitely won’t hurt the success that the play-in games have brought for business Excited to see how the next couple of weeks play out and as always, Go Celtics #sports #sportsbiz #linkedinsports
