We know that many of you have suffered significant losses of inventory, work time, and employees, and that the recovery process will be long and challenging. As a member of the automotive community we want to remind you that you are not alone in this difficult time. One of the many benefits of being an NADA Dealer is the access to the NADA Foundation, a charitable organization that supports the automotive industry and its communities. What is the NADA Foundation? The NADA Foundation was established in 1975 to provide educational and philanthropic programs that benefit the automotive industry and the public. The Foundation's mission is to invest in initiatives that enhance the image and reputation of dealers and the industry, promote career opportunities in automotive retailing, and support the well-being of dealership employees and their families. How can the NADA Foundation help dealerships affected by floods? One of the key programs of the NADA Foundation is the Emergency Relief Fund, which provides financial assistance to dealership employees who have been impacted by natural disasters. The Fund was created in 1992 in response to Hurricane Andrew, and since then has distributed more than $9 million to over 10,000 dealership employees and their families. The Emergency Relief Fund can help dealership employees who have suffered personal losses due to floods, such as damage to their homes, vehicles, or personal property. The Fund can provide grants of up to $1,500 per eligible employee, based on the severity of the need and the availability of funds. How can dealership employees apply for the Emergency Relief Fund? The application process for the Emergency Relief Fund is simple and confidential. Power 2024 U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study released Thursday. “Traditional manufacturers have responded to customer feedback by enhancing their vehicles to better meet consumer desires,” said Frank Hanley, at J.D. Power. “These improvements include better interior storage, higher quality materials, and more user-friendly features. Recent BEV models from traditional automakers have exceeded Tesla in terms of owner excitement and emotional attachment.” However, infotainment systems continue to dampen overall satisfaction across all vehicle types. Infotainment remains one of the lowest-rated categories in the industry. Owners who use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay report higher satisfaction scores compared to the average of 805, indicating a preference for the straightforward usability of their phones over the more complex systems provided by manufacturers. Key findings from the 2024 study include: Non-Tesla BEVs Highly Appealing: Owners of non-Tesla BEVs report the highest emotional satisfaction (877), surpassing Tesla (870), gasoline (842), and plug-in hybrid (841) vehicle owners. Although Tesla remains strong among its loyal customers, newer BEVs offer improved battery range and better interior materials, leading to higher APEAL scores. Premium Brands Continue to Evoke Stronger Emotions: Premium brands have higher satisfaction scores (870) compared to mass market brands (838). While mass market brands have shown a year-over-year improvement, the gap between them and premium brands has narrowed, reaching its smallest in 2021. Infotainment Systems Growing More Complex: The increase in audio source options, including satellite radio and Apple CarPlay, has led to dissatisfaction for 25% of owners who find switching between sources problematic and 23% who struggle with complex menu structures. “The addition of features seems to be creating unnecessary complexity,” Hanley noted. “Owners find it difficult to perform simple tasks, raising questions about whether automakers are meeting customer needs.” High APEAL Enhances Long-Term Value: Vehicles with higher APEAL scores retain their value better than those with lower scores. An above-average APEAL performance correlates with a Net Promoter Score that is 38 points higher, suggesting owners are more likely to recommend their vehicles to others and highlighting the long-term impact of high appeal on the market. Highest-Ranking Brands Premium Brands: Porsche leads with a score of 891, followed by Jaguar (886) and Land Rover (882). Mass Market Brands: MINI ranks highest with a score of 858, followed by Ram (854) and Kia (853).
