Earlier this week, I lost a client. It hasn’t happened too often in the 15 years I’ve been an independent consultant (3 times, actually). And the few times it has happened (including this time), it’s for reasons outside my control. However, that doesn’t make it any easier. Ask anyone who’s been laid off recently. Because that’s essentially what this is—I was laid off.   In this case the client and I had done great work together the last 5 years. We leveled up their social and digital presence. We consistently achieved (most) of our objectives and goals each year. The client was happy. Many times she told me how much she appreciated my work. And it was fun to work with her! But again, those reasons that were outside my control led to a parting of the ways.   But here’s the thing—the few times I’ve been laid off by a client the last 15 years, new work has popped up. Fairly quickly in most cases. And that seems to be happening again. I just agreed to a LinkedIn audit with a new client yesterday! I have a proposal for an audit/strategy and potential coaching work for another client. And I have one other proposal out there that could work out in the next month or so as well.   One of the big advantages of being an independent consultant is that if a client has to sever ties (for whatever reason), you’re usually not panicking. In this case, I have six other clients I’m currently working with. And sure, it’s not ideal to lose a client. I will miss the work (and the revenue). However, in my experience, something else always comes along.   One of my favorite sayings is: “When one door shuts, another one opens.” I’ve always found that to be true throughout my career. And this week, it’s been no different.

LIBERAL MEDIA PROS DISAPPOINT IN THIS TIME OF CRISIS As a communications professional, I find it so hypocritical for media professionals to criticize Biden's debate performance, while these "media pros", (having plenty of time to prepare their talking points to prepared questions), are unable to present the stark contrast between Democrats and Republicans. Project 2025 should make this a cake-walk for those who want to preserve democracy.... Yet, these media professionals lead their comments with things like "they want to end the Dept. of Education." While that is true, it is far from gasp worthy or motivational. If you are a trained media professional, use your opportunity to be on national TV to alert the public to the real dangers of the plans in Project 2025! IT'S SHOCKING that the Project 2025 plan says they will immediately deploy the military for domestic law enforcement by invoking the Insurrection Act of 1807, to "systematically prepare to march into office and bring a new army, aligned, trained, and essentially weaponized conservatives ready to do battle "against the deep state." IT'S SHOCKING that Project 2025 wants to criminalize pornography! IT'S SHOCKING that they plan to eliminate: the DOJ, the Dept of Homeland Security and FBI! IT'S SHOCKING that they plan to end affirmative action and DEI programs! IT'S SHOCKING that they plan to end abortion and even contraception nationally. IT'S SHOCKING that they want to reclassify tens of thousands of merit-based federal civil servant jobs as political appointees to replace them with "loyal conservatives" In short, the Project 2025 plan is a plan of revenge and control....disguising a white nationalist agenda as "Christian"....but leaving out any sense of caring, love, kindness or protection of individuals from their plans...which is supposed to be the basis of Christianity. If you can't deliver this SHOCKING information...maybe it is you who needs to be replaced. Let's get it together people. DETERMINE WHAT THE MAIN POINTS ARE THAT THE PUBLIC NEEDS TO KNOW...AND DELIVER THAT MESSAGE CLEARLY AND CONCISELY!
