    example, radio communication signals are corrupted with noise. A good filtering algorithm
    can remove the noise from the signals while retaining the useful information.
    Online tracking of maneuvering target is a highly non-linear and challenging problem in
    which the unknown state of the target is estimated from noisy observations i.e., process and
    measurement noises mainly. The…

    example, radio communication signals are corrupted with noise. A good filtering algorithm
    can remove the noise from the signals while retaining the useful information.
    Online tracking of maneuvering target is a highly non-linear and challenging problem in
    which the unknown state of the target is estimated from noisy observations i.e., process and
    measurement noises mainly. The bearings-only tracking has the advantage of direct
    measurement of the target location, from the beam crossing.
    The Kalman Filter (KF) is a tool that can estimate the variables of a wide range of
    processes. In mathematical terms we would say that a Kalman filter estimates the states of a
    linear system and also minimises the variance of the estimation error.
    To process the non-linear measurements, Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) and Unscented
    Kalman Filter (UKF) are generally used. If the target is maneuvering and switching among
    different models like Constant Velocity (CV), Constant Acceleration (CA) or Constant Turn
    these KF, EKF and UKF underperform. So Interactive Multiple Models (IMM) is employed.
    In this project, Interactive Multiple Model -Unscented Kalman Filter (IMM-UKF) is
    studied and applied to different scenarios in which the target maneuvers differently and
    comparision of all the filters in terms of RMS errors and time complexities i s made which
    had shown that IMM-UKF gives the minimum RMS errors and higher time complexity.
