“As a product manager at TransUnion, Rachel was my close business partner in our legal team for 5.5 years. Her skills extended well beyond the necessary aspect of ensuring that our products and services were in line with the complex regulatory environment of the FCRA, GLBA, GDPR, DPPA, and more for global fraud and identity management products. She went above and beyond to act as a business partner, who did not simply say "no" or "this can't work," she would offer options for redirection or how to get back within bounds with my product and go-to-market designs. I could never have accomplished some of the major things we did around synthetic identity fraud, data exchanges, and more without the counsel - and redirection as needed - from Rachel. Miss working with her badly!”

What is the role of risk appetite in prioritizing strategic risks?
Viewing risk appetite as fixed -- even for a single person like a CEO -- is a massive strategic misstep, especially if you're in a position where you're responsible for giving guidance on risk. I've seen execs with enormous risk tolerance in some areas and almost none in others. Assuming you know how a stakeholder will feel about taking on risk because you've worked with them before leaves you open to your guidance missing the mark.

How do you share HR engagement and satisfaction results?
Don't share the outcome of the survey with the broader employee base until the leaders have reviewed and digested the results, and a plan is in place to address the big action items. Get clear on what you're going to do, how you'll measure it, and how you'll communicate results, and then share those things. This isn't an excuse to hold on to engagement survey results for weeks: get to action stat with a goal to communicate your plans ASAP.
