Bowling Green State University acknowledges the Chapman Learning Community as a nationally recognized service program that links students to the community through real-world service projects. As a member my service project consisted of mentoring and engaging in creative projects with children who resided in a nearby homeless shelter. However, as a leader, my responsibilities shifted to planning events for the students in this learning community. Along with nine other Chapman leaders, I was responsible for participating in leadership trainings on topics such as conflict resolution, leadership styles, and group dynamics to grow and develop leadership skills, collaborating with team members to led 150+ students in six service events, planning events on campus to create awareness about stereotypes and how they negatively affect society, and promoting events through creative flyers and campus email blasts.
