    Current conventional heating methods in vehicles, current applications of electric infrared radiant heating, fundamental concepts of radiant heat transfer and human thermal comfort theory was studied. Then a theoretical investigation of a new concept with infrared heaters for human thermal comfort in vehicles has been carried out. Under this concept various cases were studied and practical feasibility of each case was determined with suitable examples.
    From the theoretical investigation it is proved that this new concept of infrared heating can be successfully employed in vehicles. This concept is not only efficient as compared to conventional heating but also has other advantages over conventional heating.
    The advantages are:
    1) Silent in operation and can also be used when the vehicle is standstill (during night). This advantage helps in reducing fuel consumption. As fuel consumption is reduced it helps in reducing CO2 emission as heaters don’t work on waste heat of the engine ultimately reducing the green house gas effect.
    2) Reduction of overall weight of the vehicle as it requires less space and does not need piping as it is needed in conventional heating.
    3) Reduced heating time for the vehicle by 93% as compared to conventional heating
    It takes less time to make the vehicle comfortable for usage as compared to conventional heating.
