A few of the accomplishments this past season: Highest G League attendance in the continental US. More than 1000 points were scored for the Dallas Mavericks by former Texas Legends players. A bigger charitable/philanthropic impact than any other team in our league. First ever game under the NBA umbrella played at an HBCU. Strongest media/broadcast platform in the G League as we launched our games on UEN. A .705 home winning percentage. Second most home wins in the Western Conference. And of course, the number of families impacted, charitable impressions, and smiles were too many to count. In short, the season was tremendous. Thanks to you. All that being said though, the off season might be going even better. A few updates… Arena improvements coming – including… New seats – everywhere! New video boards – moving from three video boards (and let’s be honest, they didn’t work very well anyways) to four video boards. New digital boards – throughout the arena. New sound system – all the better for us to entertain! Events for our season ticket members that include opportunities to meet Basketball Hall of Famer Sidney Moncrief, Dallas Stars great Marty Turco, former NBA All Star and Gold Medalist Shareef Abdur-Rahim, former Maverick great Josh Howard, media personality Jeff “Skin” Wade, and a variety of C-Level executives from Fortune 100 companies. Golf Events, Freedom Fest, Movie Nights, and many more entertainment events each month. And that’s just scratching the surface. Welcome to “Silicon Fields” What is planned for Austin and Taylor as a result of the CHIPS Act funding? The latest investment will go a long way toward establishing what federal officials are calling a "Central Texas cluster" for Samsung in Taylor and North Austin. In the next five years, it will lead to the creation of 4,500 manufacturing jobs, at least 17,000 construction jobs and tens of thousands of indirect jobs spurred by the supply chain moving to the region, federal officials said. The additional investment in Taylor will create what federal officials called "a comprehensive advanced manufacturing ecosystem." That includes two fabs to produce 4-nanometer and 2-nanometer chips, an advanced packaging facility to no longer handle that part of the process in Taiwan and a research-and-design lab that will mark the fourth of its kind in the world. Those elements are all expected to be completed by 2027.

We were on a really fast growth trend, so they hired to be able to deliver, and now things are stabilizing,” said Stacy Schmitt, the senior vice president of communications for Opportunity Austin. State economics analyst Mark Sprague echoed the sentiment saying “what goes up must come down,” and attributing the recent wave of layoffs to a broader trend in the tech industry nationally. “It's misleading to say we are the next Silicon Valley or the next big startup hub. We're not good at everything, no one can be," CEO of startup incubator MediaTech Ventures said. "'Tech’ is too generic a word. It includes everything from software and fintech to semiconductors. A lot of people that came here thinking Austin was great for ‘tech’ are now considering, ‘is my business actually appropriate in Austin?’” Yep. I said it. Why? Because a city doesn't excel by being the same as everywhere else. The *reason* so many remain bullish on #Austin is that Austin is maturing to recognize strengths and weaknesses.
