More than thirty years (July, 1989) as a local school board member in Wheeling #21 - 11 years as president and 3-years as vice president. Chair of Finance Committee since inception in 2003.
Vice President of Illinois Association of School Boards from 2013-2015. President of IASB as of 11/21/15 for 2 year term. Immediate Past President as of 12/1/17. Member of Executive Committee since 2011.
Chair of IASB North Cook Division from 1997-2009.
Distinguished Service Award from NSBA in 2003 - highest award provided to board members.
Illinois Those Who Excel - Meritorius Award designee - 2019 from ISBE.
Recipient of 2021 ISBE Thomas Lay Burroughs Award as outstanding school board president in Illinois.
Past co-Chair and spokesperson of Wheeling Friends of the Park Committee for new Recreation Center in 2003.
