“Pete joined us 2 years ago as the Director of Red Hat's Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT) when we were experiencing growth in the managed services area and needed to have the traditional PSIRT operating at full efficiency with an eye to growth and improvements, while the Managed Services side was growing and requiring more attention than it had before. So when Pete joined us, the PSIRT was largely established having grown organically over the prior 15+ years. With his background and experience in general security general and product security in particular, Pete quickly began making suggestions and recommendations for change and improvement. This was a large undertaking as no one likes change! Yet Pete, with dogged determination, led the PSIRT through a number of incremental changes that ultimately were the benefit of the entire organization, Red Hat as a whole, the industry at large, and our customers. Pete is no-nonsense and driven, yet he does this in an infectious and enthusiastic way, bringing his staff and stakeholders onboard to buy into and accept the changes. As a result, the PSIRT has grown tremendously in both function and maturity. Pete is a trusted member of the Product Security leadership team and has earned that trust due to his drive for excellence through collaboration and direction. As a manager, I see Pete investing in his people, coaching and mentoring them, and pushing them where he knows they can go even when they don't believe it yet. In short, Pete has been a true benefit to Product Security as a whole and a trusted strategic advisor to the leadership team.”

Cybersecurity: Are we ready in Latin America and the Caribean?
Organization of American States - 2016 Cybersecurity Report
"The Organization of American States published the paper "Incident Response Capacity Building in the Americas" which Maarten Van Horenbeeck, Cristine Hoepers, and I co-authored as part of their brand new Cybersecurity Report 2016. The wider OAS paper makes very interesting reading on the development of cyber security efforts in the region.
