Web search engines are used for the searching activity. The results that the search engines get are
provided to it by a software module known as the Web Crawler. The current crawlers are link
based. In this paper, we propose a crawler called ‘Rank Crawler” which will follow both a link

provided to it by a software module known as the Web Crawler. The current crawlers are link
based. In this paper, we propose a crawler called ‘Rank Crawler” which will follow both a link
based as well as a content based approach. This crawler follows a completely new crawling
strategy to compute the relevance of the page. It analyses the content of the page based on the
information contained in various tags within the HTML source code and then computes the total
weight of the page. The page with the highest weight, thus has the maximum content and highest
relevance. The pages identified by their URL are arranged in the decreasing order of the weights
so that the user gets the link with the highest amount of information first. This crawler is best
suitable where true analysis of data is needed such as business analysis.Other authors -

The result of web searches are the ones that have been found using web crawling. Our aim is to enhance that process.
Content-prediction algorithm basically tells us about the order of links that are displayed when web search is done. The order is based on the content of the page. The page with the most content matching user's query should be displayed first.
