🚀 BridgeBio’s Promising Phase III Results for Acoramidis in ATTR-CM 🚀 Exciting news from BridgeBio Pharma at the 2024 International Symposium on Amyloidosis (ISA) as they unveil impressive Phase III data for acoramidis. Earlier this week, our Executive Director, Nick Lench, participated in a panel discussion at the 24th Bio€quity Europe Conference in San Sebastián. Chaired by Selina Koch, PhD, Nick and fellow panellists Rowan Gardner and Emmanuelle Astoul discussed how to leverage Europe's extensive biomedical data resources to enhance drug discovery and development. Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany signed a deal with Israel biotech Biolojic Design, Ltd. for developing AI-driven ADCs for blocking tumor escape mechanisms, overcome tumor and patient heterogeneity and improve on safety and efficacy. This extension round was led by new investor Thuja Capital, and as part of the financing, Evan Castiglia, Partner at Thuja Capital, will join the Board of Directors. Thuja joins the existing investors Boehringer Ingelheim Venture Fund (BIVF), Kurma Partners, HTGF | High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), coparion, IdInvest/Eurazeo, Creathor Ventures and the Max Planck Society (MPG). Tacalyx is a pioneer in the development of novel antibody-based therapeutics targeting TACAs, glycan structures that are often found on cancer cells but are absent from differentiated tissues under normal physiologic conditions. Thus, anti-TACA antibodies allow for specific targeting of cancer cells and can be further developed into various treatment modalities, including antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) or T cell engagers (TCEs). With its unique expertise in glycan biology and manipulation, Tacalyx has established a pipeline of several first-in-class assets targeting different TACAs across multiple solid tumor indications. With the additional funds, Tacalyx will develop two of its novel antibodies into late preclinical stage as well as advance several earlier stage programs. Today Syncona announced it has led a €80 million (£68.4 million) Series B financing in iOnctura, a clinical-stage #oncology company developing innovative therapies for neglected and hard-to-treat cancers. iOnctura represents an opportunity to invest in a clinical-stage company and to take its lead programme, roginolisib, through to late-stage clinical development.
