Here's how you can resolve conflicts within a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) team.
Do you know those blocks at the corner of every starter template that each firm has? The ones that get haphazardly added to as the years progress? Use them! I've worked at a few firms that each developed their own legends and symbology that were great references for keeping deliverables consistent among the team. They're also great tools for snagging quick CAD tricks that I didn't know, like annotative scaling blocks. I didn't learn that in school!

"How can I help?" Is the simplest way to disarm a frustrated co-worker while also maintaining your self-respect. Needless to say, when someone raises their voice in a work setting, they instantly lose respect- so don't do it!

Everyone learns CAD differently. I remember getting super frustrated with my team member when they would snap at me for "doing it wrong" rather than seeing it as "drawing it differently". He didn't like the new girl coming in and messing his drawing up- I think he took it as a threat to his job. Everyone draws differently- be open to learning/teaching your workflow and tricks.

Here's how you can navigate unexpected changes and setbacks as a CAD professional.
1. Save a new file every time you work on a project. SaveAs is a savior! It is worth taking up the space. 2. Date the new file. A timestamp is always helpful when referring back to old drawings. 3. Break up the files and Xref! If one goes down, it doesn't take the rest down with it.
