Whenever I discuss supporting women’s leadership and retaining female talent I refer to my three gears model. 1. Organizations need the infrastructure so women can work in a way that works for them. (The right maternity policies, flexible working etc) 2. Organizations need to do the work to dismantle the unconscious cultural issues that may stop a woman from utilizing those policies effectively. 3. The women themselves need to be supported into their sustainable power base. If they think that the only way to lead is from Superwoman they’ll burn out and won’t sustain. A complete approach requires all three.  As you know here at One of many we focus on part three. So today I am celebrating my awesome friend Geeta Sidhu-Robb who launched her brilliant new initiative WCorp at the Home Grown members club. An intimate group joining our #trulyhumanleadership community call today with Dr. Anthony Howard where we took time out to consider the foundational pillar of #enhancingbeauty in our work, life and community. And you might be wondering what does this have to do with leadership? To set it in context, for the past 18 months we have come together to discover, share and learn how to respond to the meta crisis of our world today in ways that generate a human centred response, one that is founded upon personalist leadership, a leadership model designed by Anthony and shared with us and many more in his writings. Today we re-learned the foundations of personalist leadership: * Our meaningful purpose - why are we doing this? * Our responsibilities - what are we responsible for, and how will we fulfil them? * Our relationships - who are we in relationship with, and how can be enhance those relationships? * Our values - how will we contribute our gifts and make a positive impact in the way we behave? For many years we have witnessed the pursuit of utilitarian values of money, power and status and we have seen the impact this has on the lives of others; a de-personalisation, increased stress and anxiety and collapse of the very essence of what enables us, as humans thrive. During our journey we have looked afresh at the transcendent values of truth, beauty and goodness. Today was an exceptional experience in that we listened and learned from Sara Bell an inspiring story, in how beauty reveals itself in different formats, expectations, feelings and ideas. This led to an enriching conversation for us and question to consider which we share with you for a moment of reflection today: Where is beauty waiting to be discovered in your life? As leaders we have the profound responsibility to impact the lives of others. One of the ways we can do this is to enhance the beauty of our work, our environment, our behaviours. This will be revealed in so many different ways - being #listened to, being #appreciated being #creative, being #courageous are all signs of how we can enhance beauty in our everyday. #values #leadership #humancentred

Isolation is killing men. I talk to many men who are executive coaching clients and personal friends who deeply desire connections with a few men. Regardless of marital status, many men are isolated and lonely. We are surrounded by people but deeper connections are a challenge to experience. A question to ponder: Besides family members, who are 6 men you would choose to be your pallbearers to carry your body when you have died? A better question is: Who are 6 men who can be burden-bearers to help carry you while you are alive?

I enjoyed this podcast from HBR and Barbara Kellerman on bad leadership -- including how to recognize it and what to do about it. She emphasizes many things we teach in #middlepathleadership workshops -- e.g., the importance of #systemsthinking, paying attention to the traps (esp. #knowertrap and #suckerschoice), and integrating #winningandsuccess (a dual-focus on achieving biz outcomes and acting w/ integrity). She encourages us to pay attention, speak up, and act IOT to shift from "bad" leadership to "good" -- to develop systems that attract and support leaders who integrate effectiveness and ethical behavior. #leadershipdevelopment

Anyone can call themselves a #coach. #Coaching can mean anything you want it to mean. What does it mean to you? This article from yesterday's NYTimes threw a lot into question, didn't it? The wild west of coaching! Who can you trust? https://lnkd.in/gW-6S3Dk Here's my beef with this article, though. The author confuses coaches-who-prey-on-coaches and the proliferation of people calling themselves "coach" for all sorts of reasons. And fails to distinguish that some coaches-who-support-other-coaches through #coachmentoring and #coachingsupervision and offer useful and crucial ways of upholding the well-being and professionalism of what IS a credentialed profession. The field of coaching doesn't have to be a Wild West. Let's talk about the lack of awareness of consumers in the market for coaching services regarding *quality* coaching, and what distinguishes it from mentoring/training/consulting in a meaningful way, that feeds the Wild West mentality. Choosing to call yourself a coach CAN BE a signal, an alignment with a profession that can be credentialed, can be ethics-bound, can be profoundly helpful. I'm grateful to the likes of Carrie Abner, CAE and folks at the International Coaching Federation , and my colleagues at Association for Coaching (AC), and also the EMCC Global, for giving me standards to live up to. I've been toying for months about explaining all the letters I've acquired over the years. I want folks to know what is possible if credentials matter to you in your selection of coach, to know that many of us do the work to earn your trust. Accreditations: - ICF PCC Professional Certified Coach (500+ hours of coaching, 125+ training hours, mentoring, exam; and more hours of training to retain credential) - ICF ACTC Advanced Certification in Team Coaching (48+ hours team-specific coaching education, active practice, exam) - Association for Coaching Accredited Coach Supervisor (60+ hours of 1:1 supervision, completion of an accredited training program, substantive reflection and endorsements) And *some* of the hours I've put into continuing to be useful and knowledgeable: Co-Active Training Institute - CPCC (Certified Professional Coactive Coach), 200 hours CRR Global - ORSCC*Organization and Relationship Systems Certified Coach), 180.5 hours International Coaching Federation, PCC Assessor (mentor training) - 40 hours ReciproCoach mentor training,  Novalda - Diploma in Team Coaching Supervision, 150 hours of training plus currently taking Master the Art of Team Coaching, 40 more hours LifeFlowBalance - Coaching for Social Justice: Decoloniality as a Systemic Lens, 22 hours And... Team Coaching International- Understand & Access the Tools (Team Diagnostic) Positive Intelligence trained #DareToLead trained Nothing replaces relationship and fit. And I don't believe all coaches need to be credentialed. But hopefully this will bring out a different side of the conversation.
