It seems the increased use of BNPL is negatively impacting young Americans. According to Bankrate's recent survey, "half (50 percent) of buy now, pay later (BNPL) users say they use the service to pay in installments or spread the cash flow." On the Road to Help Corporations save Millions in Hotel Spend... From California to Tennessee, I'm meeting with clients and corporate customers to discuss trends in #corporatetravel. The world is radically changing and the way procurement organizations think about travel spend coupled with inflation is as well. Are you ready for the changes in distribution, rates, content and commissions? No? Do you want to know a secret? If your travel program continues to use a TMC to manage your hotel program, you are undoubtedly overspending, perhaps by millions of dollars depending on the size of your program. Why? A big part of that overspend is lack of transparency in how much commissions are being collected on your behalf and how rates are being displayed or biased to your travelers and agents to maximize profit. When I ask travel managers how much they spend annually on hotels, I often receive a travel agency report. The problem with that approach? A company's transient spend is only about 60% of their total corporate hotel spend. The rest? Small meetings, group travel, long stay and program leakage all play a role. This week, I'm in Nashville speaking at Citi's 2024 North America Commercial Cards Conference to discuss how leveraging technology from HRS Stay, Work & Pay can save Citi customers nearly 30% on their hotel spend, while creating a seamless experience for the travelers.
