  • Signal Interference with Mobile Robotics

    Daily News Journal

How can we make life saving robots more effective? Communication systems and techniques are crucial to the robotic search and rescue missions and are often the systems that fail. This is the topic that fueled our research. How can we make life saving robots more effective? Communication systems and techniques are crucial to the robotic search and rescue missions and are often the systems that fail. This is the topic that fueled our research. The focus of the research was to measure signal range and quality and the signal interference caused by different materials encountered in a commercial building environment. The research approach included assembling and programing robots with different communication modules, constructing boxes made of wood, concrete, and paper that would be used to test the interference, and measuring the maximum distance that a signal could reliably be transmitted. We tested the signal range and quality for 6 different communication module
