Struggling to maintain trust and credibility in your industry?
Even if there are missteps, I have found that if you are consistently passionate about your subject, humble and transparent when you make a mistake, and continue to learn from others in the industry, one can continue to lead with integrity. There is so much information being produced, it is hard to keep up on everything, so knowing where to get the correct information, routinely staying up to date, and sharing those resources with others also builds credibility and trust.

Here's how you can effectively convey your message as a healthcare manager using nonverbal communication.
While non-verbal cues are powerful tools in communication, their interpretation can vary across individuals and cultures. For example, eye contact indicates you're giving attention, but be aware that some cultures may find intense eye contact threatening. Offering comfort, such as providing a tissue to someone who is tearful, conveys sensitivity and understanding. Physical touch, like placing a hand on someone's shoulder, can be comforting but should be used with caution and discretion. Body language can be used as well; for instance, sitting down to talk rather than standing shows you're not in a rush. As a manager, actively modeling these techniques with both patients & staff offers leadership by example and reinforces positive behavior.

What are some effective ways to build a professional relationship with a healthcare consultant?
Make sure that each party is clear from the beginning about roles, expectations and goals. Check in frequently to make sure things are on track and to revisit the need to make any changes. Clarity and understanding comes from open communication, specific mutually-determined metrics, and outlined processes to incorporate change as needed.
