Have you ever thought about "Domino" practices in CMMC? Let's use employee onboarding for system access as our example process. 1. Verify/Document requestor identity and role prior to issuing account [AC.L1-3.1.1a] 📋 2. Account created with unique identifier [IA.L1-3.5.1] 3. Login with unique identifier and unique authenticator [IA.L1-3.5.2] 4. Connection is authorized [AC.L1-3.1.1d] ✅ Can a connection be considered authorized if the login is not with the organization-defined acceptable unique identifier and authenticator? ❌ Should a login credentials (unique identifier in this case) be issued by IT create an account if the requestor's identity and role are not verified prior to? ❌ CMMC practices are not in an order of when to complete them, or even in order of importance. CMMC Practices are collected by categorization, but applied like putting together shattered glass where the piece that's in the corner fits with the one that's by your foot. They’re a guide for an overall program to be put in place that addresses the information owner's level of risk. There are many other examples that may be used to speak to the value of not looking at this as a simple checklist. That's why we created a "mind map" of a sort to connect the Access Control family alone.
