Most IT staffing firms have between 20% to 30% of overall revenue placed via secondary suppliers / corp to corp vendors. But they have no program or strategy in place to manage their suppliers.  How can a source of 20-30% of revenue live in the gray area or be allowed to exist without a formal strategy from the top down? No wonder so many risks and issues are associated in the space– Most times the responsibility fall at the desk with the recruiter to set their own process?!?! To make more placements you need to optimize, automate and systemize the supplier process across the entire org and it will lead to greater efficiency and profit. Make suppliers an exec level business priority – because something that drives that much revenue should be more than not just “unavoidable”.

4 reasons why I recommend having supplier enablement in staffing Fully integrating third-party vendors into the staffing firms' recruiting process represents a big impact on the delivery pipeline and offers great advantages. 1️⃣ The ability to identify and increase excellence Staffing firms should be tracking supplier performance, including the quality of submittals, time to submit/fill and placements by skill and region. Staffing firms win because they can identify the best suppliers and cultivate those relationships to increase placement quality and speed. The low performers are excluded from the supply chain and high performers receive more work. 2️⃣ Loyalty through performance feedback Suppliers also win because they receive continuous real-time insights into the skill and candidate requirements of their staffing partners and feedback on their performance (placements vs non-placements). Suppliers are generally willing to dedicate their recruitment horsepower to staffing firms that offer privileged partner access and direct performance feedback. 3️⃣ Improved compliance and reduced costs With tracking and visibility into the formal process, you can cultivate trusted partners and eliminate the others. Also, this can leverage a vendor-funded model, most suppliers tend to try and optimize their own profits if given the chance – without visibility we often see where vendors are making more spread than the staffing firm. Competition and visibility drives down rates. 4️⃣ Speed of automation Automating the information flow between staffing firms and suppliers accelerates talent sourcing, engagement and acquisition, providing staffing firms with another competitive advantage.
