The San Diego Blood Bank, a nationally recognized blood bank and manufacturer of biological products, today announced that it is collaborating with the Clinical and Translational Research Institute (CTRI) at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) to support clinical trial recruitment and enrollment and increase the biorepository collection of blood samples of healthy individuals.

Reach Out and Read is an evidence-based nonprofit organization of medical providers who promote early literacy and school readiness in pediatric exam rooms nationwide by integrating children's books and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud into well-child visits.

Reach Out and Read builds on the unique relationship between parents and medical providers to develop critical early reading skills in children, beginning in infancy. As recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, Reach Out and Read incorporates early literacy into pediatric practice, equipping parents with tools and knowledge to ensure that their children are prepared to learn when they start school.

Reach Out and Read serves more than 4 million children and their families annually. Reach Out and Read families read together more often, and their children enter kindergarten with larger vocabularies and stronger language skills. During the preschool years, children served by Reach Out and Read score three to six months ahead of their non-Reach Out and Read peers on vocabulary tests. These early foundational language skills help start children on a path of success when they enter school. Show less

It’s essential for young people to understand philanthropy is not simply wealthy people giving money away, but anyone contributing TIME, TALENT or TREASURE. The younger a student is when the teaching of philanthropy begins, the more giving becomes a habit that continues into adulthood.

Why Integrate Entrepreneurship & Philanthropy?
We believe students already have the creativity, ambition and ability to create lasting and impactful change in their communities; they simply need the inspiration and the encouragement to make their ideas a reality. Teaching the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and philanthropy are important individually but by combining these two skills we can create a ripple that will impact generations to come.

These dogs are at the shelter because they have been abandoned, lost, neglected, discarded or abused and many of them have no way out but RESCUE. PSG (the Progressive Surf Group) is a fundraising organization dedicated supporting the Adam Frand Foundation through the coordination of innovative surf events. PSG donates all proceeds from their events to the Adam Frand Foundation to support and raise awareness for their cause to prevent sudden cardiac arrest in children and young adults.

Created in 1994 through the committed and collective efforts of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, Lilly Tartikoff and Ronald O. Perelman, the EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women has grown to become one of the nation's largest fundraising events. To date, the Run/Walks (in Los Angeles and New York) have distributed over $70 million for cancer research, treatment, counseling and outreach programs. Thanks in part to these funds, new treatments are being developed and lives are being saved.
